from reading in the news, it has been a common practice for the last couple wars of when the U.S. finds / captures an enemy position or stronghold, any weaponry that they come across, they destroy. You here about them destroying bombs, mines, missiles, and mortars, etc.. all the time.

Why do they do this? Wouldn't it make more sense to USE the weaponry against the enemies?

Why would you use the enemy's weapon? You have no idea what kind of condition that weapon is in, and it's not the weapon you train with. Every weapons system is different and has its kinks. AK47 can withstand ALOT of environmental abuse, but it's not a very accurate weapon; the M16 is the total opposite. It's SOP to write down the weapons found, and then destory them.

Ok nice, let's you found some RPG-7 rocket launchers, a couple of 120 mm mortars..... then how are you gonna feed these babies ? Germans were doing this back in the WWII, any russian weapons was almost re-used but then to find ammos was a pain sometimes...

I didn't know. I have no military experience so it would have made sense to me to use the enemies weapons against them. Unless the enemies usually booby trap some weapon supplies left behind. I was just puzzled to why we would destroy them, but both explanations make sense.

tell them to go with the c7 buck,we took that m16 and made it weather proof, arent ya jealous lol j/k

a lot of the enemies muntions arent compatible with what our soldiers would be using as well i think.

for instance, most NATO countries moved to a 5.56mm round as you could hold more round in a magazine than a standard 7.62mm, its more accurate short range and smaller bullets means lighter wepon. if you found 7.62 rounds you wouldnt be able to use our standard rifles, you'd have to find another rifle (or pull out a machine gun ;)....the unit might not have one though making the rounds unworthy )....

im pretty sure the brits would be swapping their SA-80s for anything they could find though :D

as well as can be expected i guess. glad to hear things have calmed down a bit your side, sporadic workouts suck big time. but once your back in the saddle it feels great.

you still working with the dallas cowboys cheerleaders? :D

Once any battle is over it's UN law that all confiscated tools of war from non UN forces be destroyed. Most of it in the renegade ME is total WWI and II junk anyway.

actually some of it may be stockpiled and given to gorrila fighters/rebels etc when we (or they) need em. :)
