walking on an empty stomach burn fat

hey i dont like running and when i run i feel like im breaking down muscle tissue so i walk instead on an incline pretty fast..if i do this for 45 min can i burn fat along with me eating a low carbs diet ? like 50%-p 20%c 30%f....so will running oor walking be catobolic? or nno cardio
 
You tend to burn more fat (as opposed to muscle or fat) when you are at 60% and 80% of your MHR (Maximum Heart Rate).

I've read that "for best results, aerobic and fat burning, keep your heart rate in the Fat Burning Zone for at least 12 minutes because this is the amount of time needed for the body to start producing fat burning enzymes.

The idea is that you want to get your body to use fat for energy. After 12 minutes you start to burn fat at a higher rate. In general, if you train at the higher end of your MHR, you will burn more glycogen. Training at the lower end of your Training Zone for a longer period will allow the body to use your fat reserves for energy, thus burning fat.

So if you're heart rate is in that target range and you're on the machine for 45 mins ... you're laughing! :D
 
WEIGHT TRAINING is what is important...it is what creates the lean tissue..not cardio..cardio is great as a last resort..shed some extra calories etc..I decided to cut back on cardio..doing only 2-3 days a week..tops..will add cardio as I get closer to a show..gives me something to work w/ later instead of using diet, and cardio all at once...you can get fairly lean on diet alone..then add your cardio when you stop losing bf etc....its like playing cards...save your Big ones till ya really need em.

wasn't insinuating that you don't do weights ... I was just saying that if you are going to do cardio and you choose to walk instead of run, then you still burn fat...

Ok firstly if you want to loose body fat then it is preffered if you do your cardio/aerobic training first thing in the morning when you wake up preferebaly on an empty stomach. If you can t do this then try this instead. After your meal wait at least hours before doing your cardio training in order to burn more fat.

I know this may sound wierd but i tried the not eating for 3 hours before cardio method and wasnt week at all, after my workout though I ate a portion of proteins and a portion of carbohydrates and felt great.

BTW: Drink lots of water during your workout this keeps the hunger substitued for a while

Ok so when youve finished eating your meal wait at least 3 hours before training this helps burn more fat :)

Just the other day a fella (that I have had my eye on for a few months tee-hee) came up to me as I was doing my cardio (45 minutes walking on the treadmill 3.5 speed at 5 incline) asked me if I didn't feel like I was wasting my time going so slowly... I NEVER RUN! (Unless of course, there is a MAJOR sale at the Gap, then I have been known to pick up my pace a bit - LOL!)

I told him that I had 11 weeks to drop a few bf%... I needed to protect my lean mass as THIS IS WHAT FUELS MY METABOLISM.

I asked him, "Don't you want to get any bigger?"

This guy has a great upperbody - forearms are lacking but he is tall and from the thickness of his wrists and ankles it would take a TREMENDOUS amount of effort for this guy to have tree trunk legs, etc..... HAVING SAID THAT - this guy is lean, granted ...but his legs ARE SKINNY!

I realize that not EVERYBODY wants to compete, but how about aesthetics?

I was trying to imply with my question about his size.... doesn't he want his legs to be MORE IN PROPORTION with his upper body?

Truth is, I KNOW how hard it is to put size on your legs... been struggling myslef for some time and I am SHORT!

Now that I have strayed.... what I was trying to say is that while this guy is lean - of course, he is lean he does A LOT of MAJOR CARDIO! But if he would cut back.... his legs would not be so torn down, they would grow and he wouldn't HAVE TO DO SO MUCH CARDIO!

Lift with intensity and your muscles will grow... and you will become leaner because of this!

I only do cardio WHEN I ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO! I have not had ANY difficulty maintaining 14/15% with ZERO CARDIO! Yes, I had to bulk a few times to get this mass.... am I hyuge? NO - not be any stretch....

LISTEN TO NEW! She KNOWS WHAT SHE IS TALKING ABOUT! Stop consuming yourself with getting lean. If you would just eat big and clean - hit the weights hard - you would be sooooo much happier - I PROMISE YOU!

Well tell you a secret about my nic...
My Boyfriend just loves batman (so do I his soooooooo yummy) and well in chat rooms etc he calls himself Batman, thats why Im Bat Z Girl :)

Ya know - when I was first told to "eat more - do less cardio" I was that happiest girl in the world. I hate that goddamn treadmill and 3 mornings a week suites me just fine. When I was the anorexic cardio queen I had a two week period where I couldn't do cardio or any of the rest of the stuff that I did back then to keep it off, at least not discreatly and I packed on about 10#. Last year I focused on building some mass and then ended up taking several months off as my gym got turned into a tool storage facility, I ate alot of junk and did nothing and I am a whopping 3# of fat heavier than when I left off, my strength is down but not drastically so. The DOMS is a bitch, though. The point is that when the vets on this board say something - BELIEVE THEM, they are not sitting behind their computers laughing their asses off because we are all going to end up looking like a bunch of fat pigs for listening to them.

i think the fear comes from thinking you will get chunky legs if u dont do cardio and train heavy, but u will get toned before chunky, it takes incredible strength to get big legs..am i right girls?
