Video editing with USB..........results???

I have heard that it results in dropped frames. Firewire may be needed for quality video input to your computer.

Someone know the scoop?

I may need to try to return this Dazzle DigitaL Video Creator 80 with Pinnacle software. I hear that Pinnacle is great though.

I would learn myself but my first attempt resulted in my buying a new and larger hard drive...........need to reload the software when I find it.

Is it USB 2.0 or the older USB? USB 2.0 can compete with data throughput w/Firewire - the older USB standard lags by quite a bit.

Depends what you are using.... If you are using a digital video camera, most, if not all, come with a firewire interface.

Not sure I would call USB older, it is still much more common than 2.0 I believe.

Yea......just USB.

I have a card for firewire and USB 2.0 but this item I bought looked like it would make video input simple. I need that, I have dozens of projects that I'm working on.

And you know all about my crazy computer skills.

If it's just USB 1.0 compliant, then Firewire will be mucho quicker.
We can't control the speed of the video input though. I suspect that USB would simply drop frames or compress the data for worsened quality.

Funny seeing you here again!

How imporatant is this to you? Meaning $$$.

You have a digital camcorder then there is probably a firewire output. Get a firewire card and just pop it in. If you need analog to digital conversion and you want to spend some cash, I got the All In Wonder Radeon. They are about $400 but with Adobe Premiere it is a killer setup.

Forget USB because it is as slow as shit. You will get crappy choppy output especially if you have TSR’s on your PC. Ie: virus scanners in the background, outlook, etc etc

USB 2 is pretty much firewire speed. Both are nice. I prefer firewire because I know it works.

I use both digital and analog.

FWIW....they all use analog CCDs to gather the data. The digital cameras send the data through a digital converter. Sorry to rain on some pricey parades.

Seems like I better plan on spending several hundred if I want to use Adobe Premier.
