Interesting. Put a Cd in the microwave and zap it for 5 seconds, you'll get a pretty cool lightning/electric light show.

It shouldn't affect your microwave to try that out. There's a new attempt to remove waste tires by sending them down a belt with a bunch of magnetrons heating them. The carbon burns off cleanly without smoke and all your left with is carbon solids and the steel belt.
