Very high triglycerides on HRT

I'm on HRT from a legit doc. My dose was 200mg cypionate every 3 weeks. At my visit today he bumped it to every 2 weeks. However, my trigylcerides were 425. Total cholesterol was 199, HDL was only 35. He put me on Tricor for the triglycerides. I told him that my diet hasn't been very good lately, I've been cheating way too much. He said that a better diet would help but wouldn't make enough of a difference in getting my Tri's into the normal range (under 200 I think?)

Can this be true? I always thought that diet and your lipid profile were directly correlated. Did I just get bum genetics that causes me to have this problem? My mom has to take medicine for her cholesterol and Tri's as well.

WOW!!!! This Doc is a pip.

Triglycerides are directly related to SUGAR ... white, fructose, fruits and anything made from flour.

Examine your diet and start pulling out the fast sugars. Your tri's level will begin to fall in 3 days. You'll start to pee a lot as you dump stored water.

Up your clean proteins and colorful veggies. Your lower tri's will drag your total down into the 180's and lower.

How do I know? I'm on HRT and can make my total go from 144 to 220 just playing with the tri's. If I eat bread, some ice creme, jelly and lots of fruit .... up it goes. Pull that stuff out and down it goes.

Funny thing is .... after a week of restricted sugars, I am full of energy, strength, and about 10 pounds lighter.

Lose some weight and eat healthier food.

Trigs are high and HDL is low in diabetics or pre-diabetics (part of metabolic syndrome).
Trigs in the range of 700's or above can cause pancreatitis.

The doc mentioned that I was at risk for pancreatitis. I always associated Trigs with having a diet too high in fat. I guess it can be caused by carbs as well. Maybe I need to cut out the simple carbs.
