Very Appropriate Speech from a Canadian....

I know this will get moved...but I wanted all the Anabolic bros to see this first....this is so true....
This is from a Canadian reporter..

TRIBUTE TO THE UNITED STATES
This, from a Canadian newspaper, is worth sharing.
America: The Good Neighbor.
Widespread but only partial news coverage was given
recently to a remarkable editorial broadcast from
Toronto by Gordon Sinclair, a Canadian television
Commentator. What follows is the full text of his
trenchant remarks as printed in the Congressional
Record:

"This Canadian thinks it is time to speak up for the
Americans as the most generous and possibly the
least appreciated people on all the earth. Germany,
Japan and, to a lesser extent, Britain and Italy
were lifted out of the debris of war by the
Americans who poured in billions of dollars and
forgave other billions in debts.

None of these countries is today paying even the
interest on its remaining debts to the United
States. When France was in danger of collapsing in
1956, it was the Americans who propped it up, and
their reward was to be insulted and swindled on the
streets of Paris. I was there. I saw it.
When earthquakes hit distant cities, it is the
United States that hurries in to help. This spring,
59 American communities were flattened by tornadoes.
Nobody helped. The Marshall Plan and the Truman
Policy pumped billions of dollars into discouraged
countries. Now newspapers in those countries are
writing about the decadent, warmongering Americans.
I'd like to see just one of those countries that is
gloating over the erosion of the United States
dollar build its own airplane. Does any other
country in the world have a plane to equal the
Boeing Jumbo Jet, the Lockheed Tri-Star, or the
Douglas DC10?

If so, why don't they fly them? Why do all the
International lines except Russia fly American
Planes? Why does no other land on earth even
consider putting a man or woman on the moon? You
talk about Japanese technocracy, and you get radios.
You talk about German technocracy, and you get
automobiles. You talk about American technocracy,
and you find men on the moon - not once, but several
times - and safely home again.

You talk about scandals, and the Americans put
theirs right in the store window for everybody to
look at. Even their draft-dodgers are not pursued
and hounded. They are here on our streets, and most
of them, unless they are breaking Canadian laws, are
getting American dollars from ma and pa at home to
spend here.

When the railways of France, Germany and India were
breaking down through age, it was the Americans who
rebuilt them When the Pennsylvania Railroad and the
New York Central went broke, nobody loaned them an
old caboose. Both are still broke.

I can name you 5000 times when the Americans raced
to the help of other people in trouble. Can you name
me even one time when someone else raced to the
Americans in trouble? I don't think there was
outside help even during the San Francisco
earthquake.

Our neighbors have faced it alone, and I'm one
Canadian who is damned tired of hearing them get
kicked around. They will come out of this thing
with their flag high. And when they do, they are
entitled to thumb their nose at the lands that are
gloating over their present troubles. I hope Canada
is not one of those."

I'm a Canadian and definitely agree with the above. You guys are very patriotic, so much more than Canadians are, and that is great! But in all honesty, it's Hollywood that gives you such a bad rep, ie, in Independence Day, which the entire world has seen, twice, not only do the Americans save the entire world, but the president himself gets in an F-14 himself to take on the badguys. In reality, the US is always willing to lend a hand, but in movies, which is all the contact that much of the world has with you, the world is fucked without you!!

i will have to agree with you 200%. we americans do everything to help other countries but when we need it they sit back and do nothing!!
good post my canadian buddy

good post my canadian buddy

Too bad its 20+ years out of date, was written after the end of the vietnam war, and the guy who wrote it died in 1984.....

we americans do everything to help other countries but when we need it they sit back and do nothing!!

Bullshit, firefighters and other volunteers from all over Canada are in New York and Washington now helping with the rescue and clean up, not to mention the planes diverted up here, and all the effort that was made to accomodate them.

WTF....Don't get so defensive bro....Firstly, who the f**ck cares if this is 20+ years old....the sentiments behind it could never be "out of date".......and secondly, you should be able to tell that no one is blaming Canada for any lack of effort in helping us in this time of catastrophe....you talk as if the Canadian aid in NYC right now and "all the effort to accomodate" our US planes landing on Canadian soil should be rewarded or something....thats what neighbors are supposed to do during times of crisis....help each other out! This post was definitely not aimed at Canada....your defensiveness and negativity during this time of horrendous catastrophe is certainly inappropriate.....this was simply a post of much needed American Patriotism....there was no need for you to bring it down with your defensive and negative comments....

Bro this thing has been posted 10+ times in the last couple of days, and personal sentiments like that can only be applicable at the time when they are given because things change. The world of today is far removed from the one that Mr. Sinclair so eloquently described and as such it is inapplicable and in some instances untrue. I'm not happy about this and having to correct you, because what is needed now is prayers, hope and unity, but things like this that are taken out of context serve only to distract and deceive.

you should be able to tell that no one is blaming Canada for any lack of effort in helping us in this time of catastrophe....

Erm..... well Mustang_5.0 said that US is going it alone and I corrected him.

For the general part the post is true until 3 days ago. We are now seeing all of our allies come together to help. This is the first time I an aware of that the US has had so many hands ready and willing to help. Usually when shyt happens here we do end up cleaning it up ourselves.... As far as the independace day post, every TRUE American would stop whatever they are doing and do whatever they can and would be willling to risk everything they have to defend our country and most of the would do the same for our allies. This has been proven be all the soldiers that have died in non-US fights. If the time ever comes to where I am called upon to fight for the US I will be there and I will do whatever I can while I can to defend the US.
