Verizon Questions

Anyone know if my cell should work on the boat in the W. Caribbean?

Also....can you change your plan for lets say a month to Nationwide calling vs. the Regional? And then change it back a month later???

Yes is will work fine and even if you go nationwide you'll still have roaming charges since you'll be on a boat....you know. Out of the calling area kind of thing.

you can change your plan at any time. i've had verizon for a long time and changed my plans several times - including downgrades - and i've never had a problem.

It's a company phone but I do see the Bill they send to finance and If I remember it was about 4X the normal ATT Cell rate per Min, plus a $2 per call International roamin fee of some such crap per call..

Most will allow you to UP your service level for a Month cycle and then drop it back down..
But honestly it won't make a difference in the International charges.
Your phone should work regardless of it being set on regional or National when it roams..
Just costs more per Min for roaming outside of your region than being national.

But I am speaking AT&T wireless. I would call verizon and verify coverage outside of verizons network.
You will lose coverage at all times that you are in transit in open Ocean and will regain it when you get to within several miles of land with cell transmitters.

It has to be better than the $8/min the ship charges.

I don't know if I'm going to be able to leave me daughter for a week.

True on the expensive ship charges, but you will have total coverage with it vs the intermittant coverage with the cell..
Same with airline phones. If you need to make a call and cant use a cell, you will pay.

I couldn't be without talking to mine for more than 2 days or so.
Look at your shore schedule and check to see if those areas have cell coverage and schedule your calls with her..

best bang for the buck. SprintPCS. Unlimited weekend calling. Yeah. 1000 minutes anytime all month. Fuck yeah. Free roaming anywhere in the yes. Triple fuck yeah!

i call so much during th emonth, and still wind up with a tiddly 70 dollar phone ball. It's all good.

Have they improved their service yet? My friend would get disconnected at least once every time we talked. It didn't matter where he was, it always happened. One of my fiance's clients is the senior director for Sprint PCS and I rag him about the svc probs everytime he says he can get us a good deal for some phones.

Damn I love that you do that to him That`s great. I would too.

I hate dropped calls. I have Sprint now.

It would be great if the top exec was using a Sprint service to call 911 for an Emergency and... dropped call. lol

I don`t really wish that, but.. you know.

I`m thinking of changing to Verizon. Alot of people say it`s MUCH better than Sprint. I`m in NYC North Jersey area and don`t make long distance calls. Is it worth the switch?

here are your answers

1) verizon will work no more than 1.5 to 2 miles off of the coast in any given coastal area, if you recieve any service at all.

2) in response to your 2nd question, you may do one of 2 different things...

a.
you may switch to america's choice/regional advantage without penalty as long as you dont want promotional offers, ie. night and weekend minutes and mobile to mobile(if you want to keep those options, you MUST resign). this is fine, however here is the con. when you switch back to your local digital choice program, you will have lost your previous promotional offers(same n&w and m2m) and will have to purchase your night and weekend minutes for $10 per month for the life of the contract.

b.
your other option is to restart the contract from that point onward. if you are 6 months into it, and want to swap for one month, you will have your one year or two year contract restart from the date you change the plan. not a bad idea if your contract start date is fairly new.
