run a disk cleanup, delete all temp internet files. if you have spybot search and destroy run that and clean shit up. maybe even defrag

How are you slicing up your bandwidth between upload and download? You gotta give to get, but you can't give away ALL your upload bandwidth or you won't be able to ack incoming packets.

Sounds like a little tweak might help.

this is the first thing i have ever dl with a torrent , so i really have no clue. now its spiking at normal speed for about 30 seconds at a time. so i dont know if it was just the person i was dl from or what.

Your upload speed might be set too high - try to manually set your upload to a slower speed. Too much up is gonna choke the down. (roughly put)
