USPS question

Do you have to sign for a package from these guys? If you do is it ok or what, never delt with these guys. Thanks:p

It depends who sent the package ask the person if you will have to sigh for the package before you go get it

On Priority Mail their is no signature required.
By default, on Express Mail, signature is required but the sender can waive the signature by checking a box and signing his/her own name.

Sometimes they forget to check the box to waive the sig and not sign because they are busy. Talk about heart attack material!

I asked my bro and he said it depend if it is domestic or international. does domestic require sigs, the way he made it sound thats a no. Any other thoughts

Mvmaxx I just looked and yup, I forgot the "s" my fault no hard feelings though cause I know that your always there to answer one QUESTION or QUESTIONS right.;) hence "discussion board" :) later bro.

Thanks Northstar

If your not in a hurry, have the international sent 4th class. I read at the Postal Inspector site under Express and Priority that a search warrent is'nt needed but one is needed for 4th class. Plus customs does'nt pay as much attention to the later the the Express and Priority. This is what I read and was told so check out the USPS site and look under Postal Inspectors. That may help.

The US Customs department does not need a search warrant to open ANY package entering the US.

Never send anything USPS, it's federal you know. They have more power and control over the mail. Send it through a private carrier like UPS, etc. They don't scan packages like the USPS can and you won't get the extra charges added on to your bust by sending stuff through the federal government.

Bro, when I quoted your "USPS Question" I meant that you specified "United States Postal Service". And I already answered your question above. That's why your next reiteration of "does domestic require sigs" is pointless. The only "USPS" packages that require signatures are USPS "Express Mail" and that signature can be waived by the sender signing and waiving the signature.

Sorry, I just can't stand seeing when people ask a question, get a clear answer, and then say something like "Any other thoughts". :redhot:

You mean "First Class".

4. Can Postal Inspectors open mail if they feel it may contain something illegal?
First-Class letters and parcels are protected against search and seizure under the Fourth Amendment to the Constitution, and, as such, cannot be opened without a search warrant. If there is probable cause to believe the contents of a First-Class letter or parcel violate federal law, Postal Inspectors can obtain a search warrant to open the mailpiece. Other classes of mail do not contain private correspondence, and therefore may be opened without a warrant.

Out of so many moronic posts on this thread YOU win the award.

USPS mail is "protected against search and seizure under the Fourth Amendment to the Constitution, and, as such, cannot be opened without a search warrant. "

UPS and FedEx can open a package JUST BECAUSE THEY FEEL LIKE IT. They need no warrant.

Bottom line is if you send or receive USPS and it's domestic then you should be fine. ANYTHING coming into the US no matter what service or courier can be searched for any reason by the US Customs Dept.

Well, I don't know about me being a moron since you don't know me, but we all can see here that you win the biggest asshole award. Dude, I think that you must have some issues because there is no point in getting all worked up. Your on the internet, on a discussion forum where opinions are stated, don't get yourself so carried away. Just cause you found something on the internet doesn't make it fact. You don't know where people are getting their information. I may know a little more about this subject than you think. I could work for the post office, postal inspector, law inforcement, be an lawyer, or gone through the justice system on this issue myself. You don't know and your opinion doesn't make you automatically right or someone elses wrong. So just settle the little insecure man behind the keyboard down a little because most people on hear are looking for information, not posts from someone who wants to flame. Have a nice peaceful day, sounds like you need it?

PS. Also please note his other wonderful new post topic on the board: "If you don't either have "the experience" OR "know for a FACT" SHUT THE FU*K UP!"

is what mvmaxx preaches all the time......he is a great bro and might just be a little pissed off that people are ignorantly responding to some of his info that he has gathered.
