USPS Problem...BIG FUCKIN PROBLEM

Because of the size of my most recent order I was forced to send cash via USPS (which I have done with great success many times).

The tracking # states that the package never left my home state, and that no further information is available.

To add to the problem, I have been overseas (still am) and only recently found out about this problem. What a WAY TO FUCK UP A VACATION.

What can I do...anything?

I am having a near-heart attack in Switzerland at the moment. There are some people who will be even less happy than I over this turn of events, and I do not want to face them without credible answers.

There are forms you can fill out so they can try and track down that package for you. Most of the time you have to wait 30 days before doing this. I do believe there is an 800 number you can also call to get assitance. Maybe its on the USPS home page.

I just went through some scary shit myself with USPS,I was waiting for a package,and my source gave me the tracking # the day he sent it.For 2 solid weeks I would call to see if the package had arrived and all the recording would say is "your item was picked up on october *",all I could think was my order got snagged by the feds and I was shitting my pants considering it should have only taken 2 days.So I finally got enough balls to go to my p.o.box to check on it,and sure enough it was there.Basically what happened was nobody scanned it when it got delivered,I was a mess for 2 weeks because of it.

If it IS lost....Don't tell them there was cash in there. Say it was something else, like a piece of jewelry.
If you insured it. you will eventually get paid.

I have called USPS hotline and am still sweating bullets. The package left my home town on October 5th and no further information is available.

I filed a claim over the phone with a customer service rep, and was told that postal investigations in the country of destination normally take 7-15 days. I should be cotacted in 2 weeks (or so).

What to do until then???...

I have people calling me already asking for updates, and I have ZERO encouraging news to relay to them.

Print out the information that you get when you trace the tracking number,and show it to the people who are questioning you.... This is the whole purpose of using a tracking system...

Yah, I didn't think of telling them the tracking #...that would be a GOOD IDEA [sarcasm].

The whole thing is fucked!

From the lost package to erroneous package designation (the USPS agent who serviced me told me that the service I paid for was already guaranteed and did not need insurance). "Are you sure", I asked. "Yes", the Hindu woman replied. And that was that.

So I thought.

The package is shown as having left my home town the day after I poted it. It has NO OTHER INFORMATION AVAILIBLE.

Now, the agency in charge of tracking down lost packages in this foriegn country, well, I can't imagine that it is either systematic or secure. I fully envision my package strapped to the back of a mule as the mule drowns in a flash flood, and the postal carrier merely shrugging his shoulders and heading back down the mountain for an afternoon nap.

Fuck!

I guess I am just looking for everyone's best guess as to weather I will see the money again or not. Or, will I have to make other financial arrangements to keep myself out of harms way?

Day 3 of waiting...day 3 of 14. That's how long it will take before I hear anything from the postal investigators.

Fuck it, my $3200 is gone, gone, GONE.

Time to come up with a plan to make some of the cash back. Donating blood and sperm just became a viable option.

I lost one package before sending my parents via USPS. never found it and they said my refund will take them up to one year to reimburse... Never got any money.
from now on... never use USPS for that kind of shit.

IF they don't find your package, claim that value was in that amount (you can say jewlery, newly created software-program on the dickette, etc.).
As for your folks. Tell them the truth. You have to. It was recorded that it WAS sent. So, there are no questions whether you pocketed the money or not. They can call and confirm with USPS.
