Used car advice

Im in the market to buy a car,ive got bad credit and found a place to finance me, options are kinda limited but ive narrowed it down to a 96 cadillac sts anf a 2000 neon le ,they are definatly in different classes thats for sure and im leaning towards the caddy even though its older, but im curious to know your opinions on each. ive read reviews but I feel some are biased and I know we have some real car guys here who wont dick me around.

I'd go with the neon bro... its got a good engine that will run forever.. maint will be low cost.. its 4 years newer..

Depends on how much driving you will be doing, what rate you can get on insurance, what the theft rate for each car is in you area? I'd go with the caddy, more comfortable, better drive train, better resale value when you want to get rid of it. Also the caddy has a much higher crash rating than a neon.

insurance isnt an issue,i need something reliable to get me to work which can sometimes be hours away so comfort is important, but I also want power and speed, the caddy is 300hp the neon 132 lol

compairing them isnt even realistic,im more concerned on if there are major issues with either

Stay the fuck away from the Caddy - its 10 years old, and unless it has under 50k on it, expensive repairs are forthcoming. Not a big fan of the Neon either. If you want a cheap car, try to find some place with a Honda Civic/Accord or Mazda Protege/626 or Toyota Corolla/Camry. If I were looking for a $4k car - those are the main ones I would target. Cheap to maintain, good gas mileage, very reliable. You can't go wrong with any of those.

You make a great point, his problem is the credit issue so finding a dealer that will finance him and has one of those cars in the right price range could be tough. Also not sure if financing works any different in Canada.
