Unreal Tourney 2003

I'm under the impression that the full release is not out yet... I may be wrong. If so, and what you're playing is a demo, you need to realize that a game that takes that much programming effort is far from completion.

If not, that sucks balls, b/c Unreal Tournament Edition is one of the greatest computer games of ALL-TIME. You could always just keep playing that I guess. I'm a CTF: Facing Worlds Champion, lol

Its hard to find time to play that game, b/c its so addictive.

what kind of game is it?

Unreal Tournament is a Shooter/Action game. Although you can play against the computer, most people choose to play it online against real life opponents. The program tracks your stats (kills, etc.) and keeps them in a database while ranking them, so at any time you can see what you're ranked in the world or nation.

You have 9 weapons, each with an alternate mode of fire. There are a variety of ways to play UT, such as:
DeathMatch (every man for himself),
Capture the Flag, Domination (3 points in the map are basically 'bases', when you touch it, it becomes your teams color, you earn points for time occupied, so you try to keep it occupied/defended at all times), Assault (you and your team either storm or defend a location), Rocket Arena (all rocket launchers), etc.

It's a really good game and made 'Game of the Year'. Another good thing is that there are always new maps that programmers have made available to download online, so the game can always be new.

I played a build of it a few months ago, it was a remake of one of the UT CTF levels. Graphically it was amazing. Gameplay was what I was used to.

I understand there's a lot of disappointment with the beta that's being pirated around now.

i'm with you!

Beefy I've been playing online first person shooters for a looonng time bro, UT 2003 sucks. Not much is going to change between demo and release.

paulos what don't you like about the demo?

here's my impression...i posted this on another board

well i'll say that it definitely doesn't feel at all like old UT.
i love the detail of the maps. on citadel, the blocks on the walls inside the base are really cool looking. i find myself staring at them too much while i run by and end up dying because of it. the flag is pretty nice looking also. i don't quite get the silly face on the flags, but whatever.
yes the taunts are retarded(not the actual taunts themselves, but just the player's voice that we are limited to right now is bad), you can't see who's doing them, and the chat box needs to be back in the upper left hand corner.
i think we all agree that the announcer needs to be given a ball gag or have an apple shoved in his mouf. i do not like the new announcement of double kills, multis, etc, as well as the sprees. the deep, commanding voice of the original UT was much better. in original ut, when you get a double kill and it's announced, you feel like HELL YEAH, BLAM WHAT'S UP NOW. now it's like...well, okay i just did a double kill...great. i miss the old announcer's voice. now it sounds like ridge racer.
the overall feel of instagib is very different. when i kill someone, it's hard to explain, but i never feel like i hit the guy as directly as i do in original ut. half the time it's like, wow i guess i hit him...mmmkay. people say it plays much more like quake 3, and i never played q3 so i don't know if that's a good comparison. i do enjoy the double jump, especially doing it in mid dodge and you can cover a lot more distance. my dodge craps out constantly and i have to double jump to get it back.

overall it's pretty cool. i'll definitely play it for the eye candy, but i wish it had the same feel of original ut.

I don't know man...it just feels like...weak. I'm too used to specific region based damage and games where you don't flop around like a fag. It's just nothing special...I expected more.

I have to admit, I played it for a couple of hours, said, "that's cool". Then I went back to playing Urban Terror.

I find it very glitchy and laggy online. I don't care for Bombing Run either. I'll probably dload it when it comes out and if I enjoy it more than I do now I'll pick up the full game.

I get the feeling that they made it to feel like a console game, which are always kiddish compared to PC games. Different demographic.

Kind of disappointing since the original was such a great game. Guess I'll have to wait till Deus Ex2 until I actually buy something.
