Ulter could you please explain the nature of AF's sponsorship of elitefitness?

Do you pay for the banner adds and the censorship of debate or does the censorship just get thrown in for free?

See post "Lets clear things up".

I will explain this for about the 15th time this year. You probably missed all the other times I have posted this.
AF pays to sponsor the board. When we first started selling our products here we had already been on the board as members for 2 years. So we didn't think anything of posting about our new products. About that time Elite became a flea market and George asked that people stop using Elite to sell things because it was and is afterall against the rules.
So we paid to sponsor Elite. Which is what people SHOULD do when they use someones space to sell their products. Well many of the people who had become accustom to just posting "buy from me" were not happy about it. One of those people was the maker of the product you posted about. He was so mad that he couldn't sell his stuff here for free anymore he posted that the "people on Elite are a bunch of retards and the joke of all other boards" on several boards including this one, which only made things worse for him.
It was at that point that his products were not permitted on the board.
I know you didn't know any of this and it looks strange unless you know the events that took place before you got here (this was all last year).
There is no censorship of the free flow of information. But some things are not permitted simply because it is against the rules. You could argue that source posting is free flow of information too.

I appreciate the reply and it definately clears things up.

I do maintain however that the actual forums should be for users to discuss whatever products they please.

It is fair enough in that case to remove the posts of the offending marketer however it is entirely unreasonable to have multiple threads about a particular product and only allow certain viewpoints to be expressed. If a certain protein company sponsered the board would it be fair to restrict all posts on protein to refer only to one manufacturer? or how about a particular brand of steroid (not that this would occur).
