UK Doc won't play ball !!!

Went to see the Doc today. Told him of my impending cycle and asked him to take some bloods to make sure I've no underlying health problems.

Didn't like it one bit. Kept going on about being sued if anything was to go wrong and that he'd advocated it. (good point I suppose) I said that there is also a flip side to that coin also. If I go ahead with the cycle without knowing my blood work because you have refused to take it, won't you get sued for neglegence then also if something goes wrong ?

He's going to talk to the other partners. I started baffling him with the science and which I might add, had no idea what I was on about. Just coming out with a blanket statement of steroids are dangerous, don't do it !

Nearly fell about laughing when he asked me if the BB's on T.V. take steroids.

If I go private, it will cost a fortune. Any UK bros out there with another plan ?

See another doctor, tell him you need your levels checked because you are experiencing certain symptoms.. you don't need to tell him what it's for.

What symptoms do I say I'm getting to obtain the right checks that I need on my blood? The UK, you have to have a reason or they won't do it. Unless I go private and pay mega bucks.

Don't tell him what symptoms. Just tell him to take your blood and test for this and that. If he asks you why, tell him because you want to. No reason to go into specifics if you dont need to.

IVE GOTTEN COMPLETE blood workup.

free test/binded test/cortisol, everything....

he said why do u want all these specific results

Answer: Im on a strict diet regimine 6/meals a day and i want to see if i have raised my natural test levels by eating the way i do. I have also been eating the righr vegies to reduce my estrogen levels and cortisol.

Beleived every word of it, and now, he prob thinks i wouldnt touch gear since i know how to do it naturally.

well when i go back for more tests i hope to be in good levels to go on, even tho last time i got checked i was perfect.

you just fucked yourself - now that will be on your NHS records and they will use it in future if anything happens to you, no matter how wild and unconnected to steroid use. Fell off a mountain bike and broke your leg? Steroids were to blame, you brought it on yourself. Heart condition when you're 50? Get to the back of the line because there's 40 a day smokers and alcoholics who are going to be cutting in front of you.

Really really bad mistake bro, go back and tell him you changed your mind and would never do anything so stupid.

I agree, NHS doctors can really cause you hassle. I knew of someone who died and because he had told his doctor about aas use, the life insurance company refused to pay out.

god..doesn't socialized government health care just suck! I'm so glad i'm in the usa...no offense brotha..but atleast we have a choice here...If a doc pisses us off, we just leave go to a diff. doc no ?s asked.

You might want to try this, go back to the doc and say, "you know, i've been thinking, you're right, it's not a great idea and I've been thinking about it twice and I have decided not to use steroids.." then just leave it at that..and go find another doc..

and the next time...just head on in and just say that liver disease runs in your family and you want the appropriate panels for liver and heart, etc..should work then :) but make sure you find another doc..

you should be ok if you go back and tell him you reconsidered and say what a fool you were etc etc, don't tell him stuff he doesn't know either, doctors all have some degree of a God Complex and letting them know they don't actually have the answers to everything will only piss them off.

I've been in your position before and had to admit to roid use after getting bloodtests for something unrelated, ever since then I've had nothing but grief from the NHS.

thankfully socialized healthcare here in canada is a little different, I can get OHIP to cover my bloodwork no questions asked.

Hey - just an update !

Went back to the Doc today, to tell him not to worry. Came out with the old shit of the GF finaly realising what I was about to do and went mad. Loads of shouting - loads of tears.
He was glad that I'd come to my senses and I was not to worry about anything going on my notes - Sorted. Now where do I get my fuckin bloods done ? ;)

Hey, HEY now...

We don't have "God Complexes"... we only think of ourselves as minor deities at MOST!

Seriously, though, I don't see a liability issue at ALL here. In the U.S. where -- believe me -- malpractice is a FAR more prevalent threat to physicians, the patient still has free will. Your decision to use a substance (albeit illegal) to enhance your body is your decision. Your doctor can discourage you ... he can even document that he discouraged you. But its still your decision -- not his. I cannot see any added liability to the doctor in this scenario.

I think that honesty with your physician is crucial here. What if you have complications with your HPTA? Or bad hypertension? Or undetected prostate cancer? Your doctor has to know exactly what you've been on in order to be able to help you (though I suspect you could get better advice here in many cases... :) ).

I think that I'd get a new doctor -- if that's possible.

BTW, I'm a surgeon and I don't "do" general health care/lab screening. I have few social skills -- that's why I went into a profession where the patients are mostly sleeping... :anon:

Good point, but that doesn't get you round the issue of it being recorded in your notes, wether you have a Doc that will help you or not. As was pointed out.......Life Insurance won't pay out if it was known you were taking aas, or any other illegal drug for that matter.
