saw REM back in '82 before they were "known"
small college auditorium
they were good and I like much of their early stuff
in fact the xwife and I felt our "song" was "everybody hurts"
as for U2,had their first album being the clued in college neo-punk druggie
enjoyed their early material as well
side note,while traveling through Bham,alabama, Bono and his drummer Clayton played alongside the local act
I got into a fisticuffs with Bono when he came down into the crowd after his performance
he's a little fuckin' dweeb
I kinda remember him whining "leave me alone"
of course I got tossed from the bar,despite being a regular
just can't mix it up with the international star and expect to stay
my actions though remain in the local punk lore as "cool as shit"
