I am buying a 50" LED DLP samsung tv and I am wondering, I don't have digital cable, and if I hook that tv up to my analog cable w/ the coaxial cable will the TV look like shit w/o an upscaler?

It won't look like shit, but it won't look like HD - even with an upscaler.

Get HD digital cable or sattelite...

why even buy a good tv if you are gonna run analog? just buy a piece of shit it'll look better..

I plan on getting HD later.. I want to get it for movies for my blu ray player mostly, but will watch some tv on it

oh then you're straight..

i had an hdtv on analog for a few years.. if you haven't been spoiled with hd you wont really care..

watching football in sd compared to hd is hell..

You can get an HD antenna and get alot of local content in HD - including nationally telivised sports and shit...

Pull it right out the ari, bish...

cable here is insanely expensive.. for the HD w/ box and cable it would put my bill over 200 and I won't pay that, I pay 65 now, don't know why HD would jack it up so high. I may look at HD sat but I hate contracts!

so the 50" will look ok in analog? it won't look like a sand storm is passing infront front of my tv

i never seen a dlp with analog but my hd projection looked straight with analog..

lcd/plasma look horrible with sd..

dunno about dlp

I have HD through Dish, it's around $80 a month I think... with an awesome DVR unit that records in HD, etc... I think there are even cheaper packages. Yeah, everyone wants a contract.

Get an HD antenna... what type of TV do you watch?

You can get alot of HD sports on NBC, ABC, CBS... lots of broadcast HD - just have to setup an antenna.

Listen to JHuno. Get an antenna and watch all local channels in HD for free. Perfect HD picture quality with an antenna.

Is the TV 1080P? If not, you're doing a disservice with that Bluray DVD player. You did pick a good TV though. I remember mentioning that one to you. Have fun!

it is 1080p.. I use the Bluray player on my ps3

do you think the price in the TV will drop after the holidays?

jh1.. can you link me an example of an HD att.? I'm not sure what you are talking about.. I'm kindof dumb when it comes to this shit

Prices are always dropping. Just look around now and see where the cheapest place is. Don't have to buy it from there, but you'll know what prices are out there, then you can evaluate if you want to wait til after the holidays.

http://www.antennaweb.org/aw/welcome.aspx <--- use this site to find an antenna. You punch in your zip code and it tells you whcih antenna you need. I got one that goes inside my attic so I don't have to go on my roof with one. ymmv good luck. They can get pricey though. Depends on your needs. Good luck. let us know what you did.

52" flat screens are 3x the amount of the dlp ones.. since I won't be hanging it on the wall I don't see myself spending that much on a tv
