Does any have it or use it?

Can you get updates for the tax code via the internet once you buy TT? Basically, if the IRS makes a change to the tax code after you bought TT will it automatically update or do you need to buy it again or just download an upgrade?

Considering buying it....

I just use it online at turbotax.com. Saves me the trouble of dealing with different computers.

If you are going to buy software to use, then get Quicken or Money and they export that data out to TurboTax (the web version will handle it too).

you can get the updates online, it prompts you to do so before you even start answering any questions.

I think they charge around $15 to file electronically.

Free to use it online. But if you want to print it or submit eFile, then they charge you.

The fees go up the closer you get to April 15th (or is it 14th? whatever).

Premium level is like $20ish and the other one is like $10ish - there is no real need to use Premium if you have a normal tax return.

If you are just doing a 1040EZ, then I think they might have a cheaper/faster thing - but that is so easy that you can just do it on paper and it is no sweat.

There are also additional charges in there if you choose various features that are largely useless but they throw at you.
Also, if you want the fees to come out of your tax refund (if there was one), then they charge more for that then if you just pay right away on credit card.

I have used them since 1999 and am pleased with it. It remembers your data over the years (address and the like) so a lot of the stuff is already filled out in future years.
Especially nice if you don't move every year like I have the past few years - hopefully can stay put for awhile now.
