Looking for a family Dr. that is gear friendly.

Will be there very shortly and would like one who understands the lifestyle.

PM me if you have or know of one!

Given that they aren't illegal, aren't they all gear friendly?

Stop worrying about gear-friendly, and just pray to god you can find ANY family doctor willing to take on a new patient. It's not easy here in Ontario...most doctor's have their practices filled up to full capacity and aren't willing to accept more.

Seriously, you might have a better chance with the kid but not much. My understanding is that new child doctors wont' take new patients so they can offload the work from the retiring doctors.

where is that titanium dildo face bluepeter at now talking about the great canadian healthcare system??????

where i go to school has possibly the worst health care in the united states, barring mississippi, but you can still find an MD and get in to see people for medical procedures on a moments notice. when an MD from canada moves to arkansas to find better work, something is wrong (yes i know of someone like that).

on a more serious note.... Dawgy, best of luck getting a MD. :)

Make more doctors. ;)
lol not that simple, something similar is happening here in aus - you have an ageing population meaning that workload for doctors is going up 100% (yes, really. 100%. minimum. conservatively.) and yet the intake of doctors is increased only 10 or 20% to compensate, particularly in specialist fields. why? because specialists are trained by existing specialists, who like the fact that they are booked out 24/7 with a 4 month waiting period at a cost of 300 an hour - and so the college of [insert specialty] doesnt take in enough new applicants. why? because the college is run by the same specialists. conflict of interest? yep. what can the government do about it? little. well, a lot, but because of lobbying, little.

what needs to happen is what has happened in the US with small bands of specialists making huge $ not by seeing patients, but by training other specialists.

its a huge drama, and if we dont get on top of it soo, its our parents taht are going to suffer and die prematurely, which is sad

aaaanyway, tehres my fri night rant over and done with :)

Good luck Cosmo. .I've been trying to find a new family doc for a couple years now.

There IS a list at the local hospitals of those that take new patients. But go make an appointment to see one of those, and you'll realize why. :worried: :eek2:

LOL I am not getting the warm fuzzies about this! :worried:

Just go to a clinic doctor again, and again.... Normally the clinic MD's don't want to work in a clinic are relatively young and open minded or old and stupid. Either way they need to keep a high volume or they can get canned as well.
As long as you don't cross any legal boundaries in their presence you shouldn't have any problems.

BrandonXJ said:
I don't get it. Why are doctors not seeing people in Canada.

They are. You can always see a doctor if you need to. Family doctors that accept new patients are hard to find because they already have all they can handle.

Gonna have noone to turn to when you get the SARS. Stay in Winterpeg, Dawg! 'Tis better to freeze your ass off than to die young. :)

lol, you assmange.

You can go see a doctor whenever you want. There are clinics everywhere. Some family doctors are full up.

As for doctors moving to the States? Sure they are because of the stupid policy here that doctors can only make so much money. That causes the wait times because they can only perform so many procedures and also encourages some doctors to go elsewhere. Regardless, it's not like you can't see a doctor or can't get treatment or drugs. Perhaps I should move to a country that that has almost twice as many people as Canada's entire population without any health coverage.

What area of TO are you in? My clinic has some really good doctors and I think some are still taking patients. It's in Oakville though and I have never talked about gear with any of them. I've been meaning to try to get some HRT or something out of them. Anyone got a trick for this?

going ot be in East York but I don't care about driving if it means to have a good Dr.

I need to find one ASAP when I get there as I have a medical issue that can't be put off.

I have just mentioned my gear use to my Dr. and then gauge their reaction. You will know pretty fast how they view it.

so basically youre saying the quality of care doesnt mean as much as the fact that everyone has the potential to be able to see a physician?

I think so. Me, my idea is that you get what you pay for. And look what we get. :worried:

Its true in Manitoba, I need a medical study done on myself. Wait could be up to 2 years. If I am willing to pay a fee of 150 I can get in within 2 months!

thank god I had another option to go the US if i needed it. But i think the guy woulda wanted special favours and I don't play dat!!!! ;)
lol, i heard he just wanted a lock of canadian cutie's hair. (funny thing is, right across from the office in LR is a krispy kreme. i swear on my life, lol. theres a hospital, cardiology clinic, a lexus dealership, and a krispy kreme.

Uh, no. There's nothing wrong with the quality of care here. I admit you have to wait for some things the reasons for which I have already enumerated. This is the problem I have with Americans commenting on our healthcare. It's a 'socialist' (see: communist) system and the care is third world. Bullshit. We have people come here from all over the world for specialized procedures they can't get elsewhere just like the States do. Absolutely nothing wrong with the quality of care. Get rid of the restrictions on how much a doctor can make and the wait times will disappear as well.

I don't understand why the governements don't let nurses and docs from India, China and other countries come and work in those countries that need more of those professionals (US, Canada, most western european countries)

Because the medical training in many countries is not up to par with the training here.

we are so short on docs because our governement treats them like shit, overworked, underpaid, yes I said it, alot of family docs see people for free when they go over they limit they can claim for a year, but welcome to canada I suppose

It's too funny reading how canadians get taxed up the wazoo for healthcare..

and yet canadian hospitals are still under-funded, under-manned, and doctors/nurses make a fraction what their american counterparts make.

someone...someplace...is dropping the ball with all that money. So WHERE is it going???

in my undergraduate endocrinology class i had two physicians from india, wanting to take boards in the US

That may have been true 10 years ago but I highly doubt India's docs are not as competent as canadians

It's called the Argus medical clinic 905-338-9900

Tried to call today to see if they were taking new patients but I kept getting calls so I had to drop the line. Ask for one of the younger ones - they seem pretty cool. Say no if they offer Dr. Thomson - very nasty man. The clinic part of things keeps really good hours too.

It would be a long drive though Dawg - I'd try some in your area first.
