It's racism. Blacks are automatically assumed to be better athletes so many white guys that can play never get the chance because of stereo-typing. The race doesn't always go to the swiftest. I was a collegiate running back, the only white one on the team. I was stronger than every running back and there may have been one that could flat outrun me, but I never got the chance because I wasn't the right skin color. I still had 6 carries for 54 yards and was among the top 3 on special teams in points awarded for tackles, forcing fumbles, etc.

You should have attended BYU or some University where you'd get playing time. J/K.

Hey, there are plenty of good white receivers around. The Giant's new Tight End is going to be awesome and the Ravens have a great guy also at tight end who is a lot like Shannon Sharpe (muscular, fast, tough, etc).

Besides, at least you've still got golf, hockey and tennis dominated.

tight ends don't count homie.

ya know, the more i think about it, the only positions in the nfl that do not lend themselves to one versus the other are the interior linemen. I guess race is important but not so much as fat.:D

Oh yeah, let's not forget Wayne Chrebet. He is much, much better than his one-time teammate/nemesis, Keshawn Johnson.

The position that truly discriminates is Cornerback. I'll give my platinum membership to anyone who can name a white one in the NFL other than Jason Seahorn.

blacks are better athletes. that's not racism, it's fact.

a race doesn't always go to the swiftest? uh, ok...so who does win a race?

just because you were stronger and faster doesn't mean anything. you probably couldn't hold onto the ball, sucked at blocking, or didn't understand the system.

I can think of some safeties, but no corners.

Rickey Phroel.

Played for the Cardinals a couple years back..right? He's the first one that came to mind..but I couldn't remember his name.

he's still playing on the rams... but you folks missed the point of this... i said "ouch" as in... these mother fuckers got WRECKED each week... remember bebe bouncing off his head? and waddle being woken up every other week with smelling salts? and ed... well, eddie gets fucking destroyed on a play by play basis...

tight end is a mixed position.. todd heap, chad lewis, mili (seattle, i think is white or hawaiin)... anyway....

my point was missed here....

and chrebet is not white.. i dont know what he is, but he aint white.

You missed the point Einstein. I never disputed that blacks are better athletes in general than whites. Only because of that assumption that some whites that may be better players never get the chance because of the stereo-type. The race doesn't always go to the swiftest. Have you never heard this saying? Michael Irvin ran a 4.7 forty yard dash, how many faster guys are there that could never be the receiver that he was? Emmit Smith is also not known to have great speed, yet he is without a doubt one of the greatest backs of all time, because of determination, will, heart, work ethic IMO.

Bebe wore a fucking double thick helmet and shit...

Chrebet is not human, he is a robot. What do you mean he is not white?

i also don't think it's discrimination. you can survive at wide receiver without blazing speed, but a corner who's half a step slow will be exposed quickly. blacks are faster (on average).

i do agree with the guy who said white RB's, WR's, etc. may have to prove themselves a bit more. of course, OFF the field of play, it's blacks who often have to "prove themselves" more than they should due to biases against them.

Chrebet is whiter than white!

and i've looked through all rosters and did not find 1 White CB besides Seahorn.

are you sure chrebet isnt super mixed??? when his helmet is off it looks like he has nappy hair.... like he's really light skinned (mixed)....

You could be right. Just took a second look at some of his pics and he could be mixed...

I'm talking strictly football, not race relations or politics. When I use the word discriminate, I mean speed is the discriminating factor. We agree.

I don't think so. I have a pretty good eye for that sort of thing, and I'm sure he's not mixed. Reading his bio he is from Garfield NJ, went to Hofstra. He's just a hard-working white dude with great hands and olive skin.

I do not agree with that statement. It depends on what sport you are talking about. I am sure there would be allot of Soviets and East Germans to tell you different. I think that subconsciously coaches and recruiters do believe that blacks are better football and basketball players, I am sure the reverse is true for Hockey Coaches and Water Polo Coaches. I think it all depends on the sport in my opinion, don’t forget there are way more sports than just football, baseball, basketball and hockey in this world, basing facts on these sports that do not represent the entire sports universe is a little closed minded. Not trying to start a debate just stating my opinion on the subject of blacks being better athletes.
