MY CARD IS PROGRAMED. MY DISH IS POINTED CORRECTLY. MY SIGNAL STRENGTH IS B/ 95-96. 96 BEING PEAK STRENGTH.

PROBLEM IS.........ON EVERY CHANNEL, IT WILL PLAY FOR ABOUT ONE TO TWO MINUTES THEN STOP FOR ABOUT FIVE. PICTURE JUST STOPS FOR A FEW MINUTES. WTF???

ANYONE ELSE HAVE THIS PROBLEM???

Turn your reciever off and remove power completely (unplug). Wait a minute or so and then try it. Works for me.

you are getting what is called hashed. a simple reboot(turning off the reciever) will not work, it must be reprogrammed, sorry. the good news is there is already a fix.

What is the current hot setup? I have a H card that was fried from that ECM sent out last year... do the boot loaders still work on these fried cards with an emulator? And is there any programming being done on the HU's yet?

I HAVE DIRECT TV WITH A "H" CARD AND A "HU" CARD. BOTH ARE PROGRAMMED. THE OLD "H" CARD HAS A SPECIAL SLIP THAT GOES OVER IT SO IT CAN WORK. I MAINLY USE THAT CARD AS BACKUP WHEN THE OTHER ISNT WORKING. THE SAT. CO. HAVE STOPPED SHOOTING BULLETS FOR THE "HU" CARD. OR ATLEAST THEY HAVENT IN A WHILE. I ONLY GOT HIT ONCE RECENTLY WITH THE NEW CARD SO I JUST USE IT FOR THE TIME BEING.

I'M GONNA TRY TO UNPLUG THE RECEIVER FOR A MINUTE JUST FOR THE HELL OF IT. IF IT DOESNT WORK, I'LL CALL MY GUY AND GET HIM TO REPROGRAM IT.

you may need a un-looper to fix you h card. Try doing a hard reboot on your reciever, That sould take care of the hashing for now, but you will have to update you card. Do a search at dsschat.com for hard boot info. every unit is different. You need a boot loader to program hu's. I have a h card........i just can't find it.....grrrrrrrrrrr. emulators cant be hit, although more expensive to set up.
h-cards that were hit with black sunday EMC last year work with a bootloader and has not been fucked with since.
hu-cards are being programmed but also have been EMC'd and hashed. they are more pronned to being fucked with right now.

h-cards are hard to find and expensive. the going rate on e-bay is around 300 US dollars. and you would still need to purchase a bootloader and have it programmed.

kayne, just my opinion, but i think you should use your h-card with its slip as your primary viewing card.
in theory: the h-card has already been damaged beyond use without the slip. the buzz is that they can't really fuck with it to much more. maybe a hash. hash's are fixable.
now your hu-card has not been damaged beyond repair, it has only been hashed. but DTV may come out with a EMC and hit it like the h-cards were hit with black sunday last year. then you would have a non-repairable card.
if you remember when the first programs came out for the hu-card they were EMCed and those cards are still not working today. word is that DTV may be stringing together hashes to set the hu-card up for the big fall. thats how they did it with the h-cards.
in the end it may not matter either way. DISH network has made an offer to buy DTV and if it is approved by the govt(cause it would create a monopoly) DISH may redistribute new cards that are not programmable. this could take awhile though.

Funny thing, i just took a job with Echostar ( dish network ). I start on monday. From what they told me it is basicly a done deal. it just has to go through the courts and they are preety confident that there will be no problem. the final merger should be complete by 9 months.

Asfar a the cards and hacking go i know very little about it. Not really my part of the company. but just watch out. They are planing to switch over to all new hardware in the next 9 months and it should last about 2 years. So your systems will be useless after that. but dont worry about me informing them about the piracy, after i get through writing this i am going to watch some ppv movies on my " tweeked " cable box. God I hate Cox cable.

the only problem with dish buying dtv is that it creates a monopoly, which is not looked upon favorable by the govt.
sometimes companies hope for the best, i hope it doesn't go thru, but if it does oh well, back to cable.

Don’t think so. They have been saying that from the beginning. The H card was supposed to be unhackable but look what happened. The encryption was never broken but they found a way around it. The HU SAme thing. I feel as long as there is an eeprom chip they will be getting hacked. They are getting smarter though. YOu cannot cash and carry systems anymore and they are trying to crack down on dealers with scare tactics ect....ect....

Your right they can change it very quickly but on my free to air rec all I have to do is change the settings. From what I hear the have scanners that can keep up with the changes also. DirecTV went public and stated that it was over and the cards would be down for very long time if not forever and presto they came out with a neet fix called a DPBB board. They got humiliated. Also it will take over 5 years for Directv and dish to get on the same platform. There is no way in hell they can do it in 2. And by the time they are on the same platform im sure there will be all kinds of neet stuff out there by then. The tracking device you are talking about is called the US Gov and there wire tapping inocent people. Im not going to sit here and argue with a sat rep but the Hackers are in the drivers seat IMO.

I use a black box for cable so I am just as guilty as anybody. Yuo are also right about the hackers. They my even have someone who works for us sharing the technology. Oh well it's out of my hands.
