Time to leave......

Nah, not like Days of the Tantric....not that kind of departure! I am leaving in the morning taking my family to Port Canaveral to catch a huge ship called the Carnival Pride to the U.S. Virgin Islands. The very first cruise I have ever been on.

Working all of these years, I never really got vacations for extended periods.
We pull out of the port at 4:00 pm Saturday. I guess the diet is already shot for the next ten days. I watched a progrm the other night on the TravelChannel about cruises and it said, "Be prepared to eat every 30 minutes," :eyes: ! I don't think I can do that without throwing up.

One thing I have learned before I leave.....this cruise has cost twice as much as the actual cost of the cruise! I wish I wasn't such a tightwad and could just enjoy life!

I hope everybody has a great week and if they have internet access, I might just sign on for a few...I know everybody will be sitting on pins and needles for that event!

Later folks!

Humor Me,

Have a blast. I went on an Alaskan cruise 2 years ago and it was great. And they are right you will be eating every half an hour. Oh, yeah and our drink bill (2 people) was $500+ for 7 days. Ooops.

Can't wait to go on the Hawaiian cruise next May.

Thanks Goatslayer...if I was a drinking man I would exploit it to the hilt...but I doubt it's free at least from what I can tell!

Thanks gymtime!

That's a big OOOPS! Did you do anything you would be ashamed of...that would be the question...or maybe you don't remember? :FRlol:

I'm taking about $600 for casino games but that is my limit. I have been chunking quarters and dimes and nickles in a jar for the lst six months and that is what it came to. After it's gone, I will not go in there anymore....I promise! ;)

HM,

No, I remember everything (I think :) ).

I think you should be OK with 6 bills for the casino, unless you "have a problem". I myself hit on roulette and blackjack early in the trip and had to limit myself to the slots after that. But, it also made up for the drink bill. Oh, well, it was a great vacation.

Have fun!!!

I have about 2 wks of vacation saved up and I am looking for something to do with it! So when you get back write all about it, I am curious. However I am an introverted type, so I do not know if a cruise would be for me

No, I don't have a problem with gambling...just something I always wanted to do or should I say try! I have been told that you gamble early in the cruise because you win more often versus the end of the cruise when the casino is tightening the screws! We'll see! LOL!

Timothy....I'll let you know. If it goes good, I will probably do it again next year.:)

Have a great time and enjoy yourself...

I want to try a cruise some day too.

Let us know when you get back...

Pamela :)

Thanks Pamela! I hope it is fun.

The kids are real excited. My oldest (10 Year old) just fell asleep about 30 minutes ago.

My wife is the perpetual worrier though. I think she has packed and repacked a dozen times. She thinks she is going to get seasick though. She has bought all of this medicine for that. Sometimes she is just too much of a organizer!

I'll tell only enough to not embarrass myself.....oh yeah......we have seperate rooms from the kids! :lmao:

No lie...I spent $200 on snorkeling gear for the family and we didn't get the vests. I figure we could rent the vests down there but we will definitely do that...if I have to jump off the side of the ship! :lmao:

We even bought underwater cameras for snorkeling too!

HM,

Not sure what you got for sea sickness but when I went to Alaska the seas were really rough at certain points (fortunately didn't bother me). At times it was so rough I was bouncing off the walls when walking down the hallway. Though you probably won't see that.

Anyway to get back to my point. Some of my friends did hapen to get effected by the sea and Dramameen (sp?) only made them worse. On the ship they were giving away these wristbands that use a pressure point on the bottom of the wrist to help prevent the sickness. It sounds weird but it worked for almost everyone that got sick.

Just thought I would pass it along as you have kid(s) and they are sometimes more sensetive to drugs. There are also patches that you can put just behind your earlobe, etc, but I swear the wristbands worked best.

Thanks Pebcak. Yeah...we have all of that stuff except for the wristbands. I'm sure my wife will inquire about them too! Thanks for the heads up!
