I'm following the prophecy of Professor Dr. Hank Wesslemen, who's book, "Spirit Walker," details is trance state, shamanic journeys into the future. In this future, around 500 years from Earth's present year, he is observing as a spirit the life of a Hawian Shaman. In this future, global temperatures have risen and much of the world's landmass has been overtaken by water from glacial melt. Including California.
Okay, I took a class from this guy years ago and learned some interesting things about global religion.
The shaman's religion is the oldest and most consistant in its theology and phenomena the world over. Native peoples in South America have the same visions and countless other religious similiarities with the native peoples of Siberia, for example. It is the religion of hunter/gatherers around the globe, and it involves inducing a trance state using a percussion instrument played at a specific pace. Naturally occuring alkaloids are sometimes used to enhance the shaman's abilities or visions while in trance.
In this trance state, the shaman jouneys into different levels of reality, usually represented as a tree with three seperate parts; roots, trunk, and branches/leaves. Our reality is the middle world, or "trunk" of the world tree.
A shaman usually begins his spirit jouney into the lower world, where he attempts to make contact with his gaurdian spirit or spirit animal. This will often occur at some point in the shaman's life while observing another shaman at work, while taking native drugs, or when near death or ill. These two supernatural forces are needed to protect the shaman from spiritual attack, and may teach the shaman ways to increase his spiritual power. Spiritual attack is a very real and often used strategy in more primitive cultures, and usually comes from the shamans of rival tribes or from enemies within one's own tribe, who may have some shamanic ability or be able to pay another shaman to lay a curse. The shaman can communicate with the spirit animals of other people through his or her own spirit animal. Shamans can utilize the spirits of the lower realm to cause harm to others by way of spiritual attack, but they can also heal by pleading with the powerful spirits of the upper realm to perform a miracle.
Again, the above description is universal, globally, and has been for tens of thousands of years. Rock art in Australia 50,000 years old depicting strange beings that are part man and part animal, the world tree, and shamanic religious symbols is almost identical to the rock art still being created by native peoples today.
I've journeyed into the lower realm on several occasions by utilizing the simple techniques one learns to enter a trance state. Its really quite simple with a drum beat. You'd be suprised, and you don't need to be wasted to get there. The experience is something like a very lucid dream where you have almost total control of reality. Almost anything is possible; flying, breathing fire, or morphing into animals. There are other things or visions that are universal and have not changed from person to person and for thousands of years.
You may think this is all bullshit. It sounds a bit like an alien conspiracy theory. But, it a universally human phenomena. If you are interested, look for a book called "The Shamanic Journey." It comes with a drumming CD and instructions on how to induce trance. The first time you try you will probably succeed as it is very easy. Something in the structure of our neurons gets tweaked when the drum beats, and the trance state rushes in all of a sudden and you are tingling from head to toe. It actually was much harder the second time I tried and even harder the third. A "gifted" shaman can pass into a trance state with ease and is very lucid while in trance, every time he tries.
