If its claims are truely on the up and up, then this Drug can change not only Lives, but the entire way we conduct business, working out, relationships, education, and pretty much everything else.

I agree. Did you read the entire article?

i would never sacrifice sleep... the human body was meant to be active and dormant to "recharge"... science is saying otherwise.. what's next.. we don't have to eat everyday do to a pill we eat once a month that satisfies all our needs for the entire month???

it's retarded..

Modern day Shrinks will hype up their drugs like a car salesman trying to sell "winterized rust protection." So much of it is ignorance on the part of the doc (they believe only the medical abstracts they want to) and bullshit though...I am sorry to say I have family members in the business and know of their stupidity first hand. Yes all this stuff is good when someone really needs it because of chemical deficiency, but they are in general vastly overprescribed. Those retarded TV commercials really piss me off too. Maybe there is a pill I can take so I won't get pissed off, don't need to sleep, don't think about sex, don't worry about being buff, don't waste time on my "internet addiction"? Then I would be the ideal worker drone!!!!

There is a pill to stop all this, it's called a Bullet.

For quite some time, I have held great interest in trying modafinil and also adrafinil. One immediate downfall of modafinil is that it is so fuckin expensive. Another is that, according to this shrink I had a discussion with from my HMO, it is not obtainable from anyone but a neurologist (within my HMO), and I think only prescribed for narcolepsy(again within my HMO). And while I have heard it really does have potential to be effective (which is good news), some people say that the recommended dose is far too low, but I have not followed up on this query. If it is true, that means this med can cost around 300-400 dollars a month, I believe the lowest dose 30-day supply is 150 (if I remember correctly). For non-narcolepsy people this is great, but for narcolepsy folks, modafinil usually fails, or it is at least inferior to amphetamines (so I've heard)? Another good thing about this is that it works primarily in CNS(again so I've heard)?, which is great for me, because I hate the peripheral effects of some stimulants. Another downfall is that I don't think it works in the dopaminergic system (but to some this is a good thing because less "abuse potential" and "addictiveness," and others may not be interested in dopamine boost anyways). I'm really interested in trying modafinil, unfortunetly I have really no way of acquiring it at the moment. I'd love to hear testamonials or feedback from people who've used it.

hey, in an effort to slow population growth the gov't ran that whole "Virgin, it's not a dirty word" ad campaign....maybe they will be printing up billboards with "Suicide, the other anti-depressant."

On the asian generic description, modafinil was described as being "similar to ritalin"

I've tried some of his modafinil, I'm still experimenting with it, I will let you know more results soon. Ritalin has a different effect on me than this modafinil because it lets me concentrate in places where I wouldn't be able to concentrate normally, (I get distracted really really easily) and I think gives me desire to do more work. With the modafinil I've gone up to 150mg on an empty stomach at one time (I think 200mg once a day is the narcolepsy dose), and I think I have noticed some of its positive effects. I have taken a good amount of caffeine, ephedrine,st john's wart at the same time so it's hard to tell.

I'm not lifting for these few weeks so i might just see if I can find a dose that will help me concentrate on a few nights of very little/no sleep (didn't like doing this before). I'm skeptical.

Diesel, so exactly what happened while you were on it?
How long were you able to stay up and be fully functional?
How did you feel on it?
I think someone can set a world record with this and a half dozen Viagras for the worlds longest sex session.

Guys,

I just started taking this stuff the other day. I'm starting at 1 pill a day, then up to 2 (I think 100 mg to 200 mg, though I'm not positive). While it is used primarily to treat narcolepsy, I take it for depression, in addition to Wellbutrin and Celexa. The Celexa tends to make me drowsy, so the Provigil (modafinil) is used to give me a little extra lift. It was proscribed to me by my shrink, who thinks it can be effective this way. I will say that it controls my appetite pretty well, as I am now on a very restricted carb diet. If any of you have any questions, please free to PM me. I have health insurance and the Aetna co-pay was $10 for a 1 month supply.

What I will say is that for bodybuilders, sleep is essential for recovery, so using it the way George was suggesting, staying up for days at a time is crazy. I take it first thing in the morning and am fine to go to bed at night.

I was just looking at some stuff and it seems that modafinil may have some dopamine action.

From pubmed: "Modafinil binds to the dopamine uptake carrier site with low affinity"

I'm still am confused about its pharmacology, does anyone know?

When I first heard of adrafinil and modafinil, I read they are centrally acting alpha-1 agonists, but now after reviewing some data it seems that believe has been shown to be inaccurate, and modafinil works some other way, possibly with dopamine action, but according to Provigil's website "Unlike stimulants, PROVIGIL does not mediate wakefulness by a dopaminergic mechanism. " I also heard that adrafinil is very different from modafinil, altough, adrafinil metabolizes into modafinil, but I don't know how much? Anyone know the action of these drugs, or anymore experiences??

Warning about adrafinil

Hey guys,

I don't post much here, but since I'm am probably one of the few people who have had a good deal experience with adrafinil (cousin of modafinil) I thought I should throw this in.

First off, adrafinil is much cheaper than modafinil - from smartdrugs.com, you can get if for about 50 cents a tab.

It does have some mild "spill over" effect to the CNS system - apparently Modafinil is highly specific - even more so than adrafinil.

My experiences:

From around March 2001 till this August I took 4-8 Adrafinil pills about 5 days of the week. Combined with a Vivarin, I have never had such awesome focus in my life. It made studying for my law exams almost easy. The shit was really amazing. In fact, for one of my classes I had a 24 hour take home final - busted out 15 pages of really good work by bascially staying up for 20 of the 24 hours on vivarin and adrafinil. I had never been able to do that volume of quality work before.

Here is the problem: Around mid August I noticed that I had fatty gyno. I wasn't sure at first if it was "real gyno" or just excess fat. I was no fatter than I had been in the past, and I had never noticed the nips before. I had used no steorids, only androspray, which I had used alot in the past, but with no negatives what so ever. The nips were puffy, kinda fatty - kind of like Ric Flairs. There was absolutely no pain. Nonetheless I was kinda freaked out. Well, actually very freaked out. I stopped the adrafini immeadityely andgot some nolvadex and that kinda helped. Got some Yohimburn and that really cleared that shit up. THANK GOD FOR YOHIMBURN!!!

I cant say for sure that the fatty nips came from the heavy adrafinil usage, but I can't think of anything else that would have caused it.

Nowadays, I use it only when I really need it - like once every two weeks and right prior to exams. And the nips always seem to puff up for a day or two after the adrafinil usage.

This all could be in my head - I have absolutely no idea why adrafinil would cause this reaction. I thought that maybe my long term usage of it caused the alpha 2 receptors to "downregulate", kinda of like the opposite of what yohimburn doesn. Like I said I have no idea if this was the case.

Perhaps somebody like macrophage or someone else more knowlegdable would care to comment.

I took 300mgs of IP's modafinil at 7:00pm and passed out at 12:00am that night. I had a slight "high" for only 1-2 hours. Not worth a buck a pill.

I agree.I've taken 400-500mg at once just to feel something.I work 12 hr nights and the idea that this can keep you up for "days" is a marketing ploy or just straight bullshit. I agree with Primal X that its not even worth a buck a pill.
Give me dexadrine or ritalin ANYDAY.
