THE FOLLOWING WAS FORWARDED TO ME BY A GOOD FRIEND, WHOSE SON IS IN THE MILITARY, AND WAS A TEACHER AT A SOUTHGATE SCHOOL UP UNTIL JUST A FEW MONTHS
AGO. THIS IS WHAT HE SENT TO THE SCHOOL - IT IS SO GOOD, I WANTED ALL OF YOU TO SEE IT. IF YOU LIKE, FORWARD IT TO ANYONE YOU WOULD LIKE TO, AS HE HAS PERSONALLY WRITTEN TO ME THAT THE MORE PEOPLE WHO SEE IT, THE BETTER!
TAKE CARE - MAKE SURE TO TELL THE ONES YOU LOVE THAT YOU LOVE THEM! BE KIND TO ALL YOU ENCOUNTER - EVERYONE NEEDS KIND WORDS, A SMILE OR SOME OTHER
SMALL GESTURE OF GOODWILL.

Students of Southgate-

I am writing you all this time because of the events which unfolded yesterday. This is more than a "hey..how ya doin' " message. I suppose, even as I go to work in my camoflauge and perform my military duties here in Texas, I still have my teacher-hat on. I hope you all don't mind, but I feel it's my obligation to help break this event down with you.
Many of you have grandparents alive who remember the day and where they were when the Japanese attacked us prior to World War Two at Pearl Harbor. Many of you have parents who remember the day and where they were in the 1960's when President John F. Kennedy was assasinated. Let it be said, that
you yourselves will remember for the rest of your lives the day and where you were when America was attacked by terrorism. You will have stories to tell about September 11, 2001. Your children and your own grandchildren will read
about this day in their history books, just as you read about WWII and JFK in your history books today. It is important that you all realize the full scale significance of yesterday's events. Not since the early 1800's has America been attacked
like this on her mainland. Prior to yesterday, the Civil War marked the most amount of American lives lost in one day. Yesterday beat the Civil War's mark for one day. This has effected the entire world in more ways than one.
It is our obligation as Americans to be concerned about what is going on. It is your obligation as young Americans to stay informed about this issue. Your country was attacked. It is important that you ask why. It's not my job to tell you what you should think. It IS my job to help you think about if for yourselves. And my main point is just that- you need to think about it. It's your duty to think about it.
One thing I want to ask you to think about above and beyond anything else deals with this: prejudice. I've heard plenty of people on television, in the newspapers, here on base, or from people on e-mail say that we should bomb everyone in the Middle East and that all Arabs are evil. THIS IS WRONG.
There are countries in the Middle East who do NOT believe in terrorism. There are Arabs in the Middle East and in America who do NOT believe in terrorism. A matter of fact, MOST Arabs do NOT believe in terrorism and think what happened to us was horrible. Keep in mind, there are terrorists who are white, black, oriental, hispanic, Christian, Jewish, Muslim...terrorists come in all shapes, colors and religions. Remember- this
country originally belonged to the native Indians. We all came from another country. Nothing gives us the right to be prejudice against another race of people. I beg of you, do not let what happened yesterday fool you. Most Arabs are our friends. In this case, some really sick people did some really sick things. This does not mean that we should hate innocent people. We
are at war with terrorists, not with Arabs. We are at war with terrorists of all races and all religions.
The military and our government will seek justice and punish those who committed this horrible crime. As an intelligence officer in the military right now, I have access to a lot of classified information. As an intelligence officer, your former teacher and your friend, I'll tell you: if you want to help America seek and provide justice you can do the following things-
1. stay informed, do research, ask questions, think about things,
question everything and form your own opinions, use your own logic;
2. rally around your country right now and understand to the best of your ability what is going on, support your government and your military, have faith that justice will be served; and
3. understand that we are all world citizens, practice tolerance, do not spread hate, love all, do not give in to the temptation of prejudice, be stronger than your friend or your neighbor who
wrongly believes that all Arabs are bad, teach them and know that you can make a difference.
We have been attacked by an outside force. If this country now falls into prejudice, we will be attacking eachother. One war is bad enough. We don't need to fight another one. YOU can stop that second war before it ever
starts.

Pass this message on if you think it can make a difference. In this difficult time, we need to stay calm and let the appropriate people take action. The best thing you all can do right now is to teach others these things and prevent a war of racism and prejudice from erupting inside this country. You will hear lots of things said in school in the near future. It's up to you how you respond to it. Don't let ignorant, racist, prejudice people tell you how to think. You are all smarter and better than that. It
is up to you to help teach and guide them. Many people are confused right now about what's happening to their country. I assure you, things will be fine. My folks will take care of things outside our borders. We'll make sure the right people pay for what they've done. We need you folks to make sure to take care of things inside our borders.

My thoughts and prayers are always with you,
Lt T. K. Wilson, USAF

I figured he stated this best. If anyone has something bad to say about this, then they are just plain cold-hearted. :cold: This is the truth, and it explains it VERY well because it helps explain it to children.
