Qustion: Do you think creams such as Thiomucase that are supposed to help tighten your skin are useful at all for competition? I have tried Thiomucase in the past but honestly don't know if it helped at all and am contemplating whether I should use it or a similar cream this year. I would appreciate your opinion.

Answer: Thiomucase is a chemical compound that is not a steroid and was originally utilized as a dispersing agent. If applied to the injected area Thiomucase got the drug to the system faster.

From my experiences in preparing bodybuilders for competition, Thiomucase worked best in those that tended to "hold water" around their midsection. Apparently, it allows as much as 20% more water to be freed from subcutaneous fat cells, making the fatty area look thinner. There are three ways of using Thiomucase; oral, suppository and the cream that is rubbed on. In contest preparation some bodybuilders use all three at once.

You hit the nail right on the head when you said "don't know if it helped at all", as most bodybuilders can't tell if the Thiomucase worked every time. Most bodybuilders assume that they cannot afford not to take it, so they keep using it. You could mix it with a little DMSO and apply it to the problem area, as it seemed to work better this way. However, basically, if in those few weeks leading into the show, if you have dieted hard and correctly the Thiomucase may help, but it won't do anything dramatic. But, that does not mean you should not keep using it.
