haha, I lived in Rock Springs when I was a kid, my dad was a trucker. We used to go swim in wet suits in the flaming gorge reserviour. I may take that route to SLC though, I just want to hit all the mountains while it's still winter.mountain muscle said:Also, don't forget to stop at Crestone Junction at the fireworks stand there. There is pretty much nothing else until Rock Springs unless you plan to drill some wells.
You may want to hit Wamsetter up for a taste of the armpit of the oilfield.
If you want to see something, turn at Loveland, Head through Estes Park, Granby, Kremmling, Steamboat Springs, Craig and then take 40 to salt Lake and down.
You're not missing much bypassing Rock Springs, just more oilfield and a strange town laid out along the railroad tracks.

mountain muscle said:We'll send him up there when he gets his Colorado Drivers license. Haven't been there forever. They still have the restaraunt up top?
mountain muscle said:That is a good place for a Colorado meetup. Then we head to Grandby lake for some beers and fishing. The views up there are sweet.

dude, when are we going back to vail? haha. I'm down for going to that lake... is that the one your ex has a place on?beefcake28 said:Yep. Well, there is a lodge up there... I don't remember if there is a restaurant or not, but they have all the lame-ass gift shop B.S... Which means there is probably a restaurant as well. Dunno, its been a couple years since I drove that pass. There's some scary freakin' turns up there, with no guardrail. Last time I was there, I drove it at night... Talk about nerve-wracking!!

We gotta get there at 0800 next time, haha.beefcake28 said:Her place is on Grand Lake... Close to Granby, but not quite. I wish we could do Vail this weekend, but I'm gonna have company in town. Next week sometime, for sure. I don't wanna wait any longer than that... I got you hooked on that place, didn't I?? It's all good...
I still say that we swap boards next time... Just for the fun of it. It'll take maybe 5 minutes for me to switch the bindings around.

Drinking beers at 12000 ft is cool, but drinking wine out of the bottle at 12,000 ft listening to john denver is even better... haha.
I think the funniest part was the fact that I was only drinking wine because they dont sell whiskey at the top of the mountain at Vail...hey, I found out how good it felt to go down the basin buzzed on wine though. That was a great time thoughbeefcake28 said:Dude, that was classic. Funny as hell!! Does it get much better than that? I doubt it. Yes, we will do it again, soon... March and April are the two snowiest months in the mountains, so I see nothing but good times ahead of us. Gotta love the POWDER!!! At least, for the next couple months, anyway...

Scotsman said:If said meet-up should occur, there will be no wine and absolutely no john denver.
Beer, whiskey, and metal are fine though.

beefcake28 said:Beer is my poison of choice... and if said meet-up occurs, I will drink you all under the table. Just accept it. Yes, that is a challenge.

beefcake28 said:I grew up in Wisconsin. We had beer in our baby-bottles. I have yet to meet anyone here that can come close to me when it comes to drinking, but... I'd also like to see you prove me wrong. Either way, it's a good time all around.
juiceddreadlocks said:last time we went to keystone beefcake was drinking more beer than I drank water/whiskey combined and still made it down the mountain without altercation with the ski patrol, I cant say the same for myself.
Scotsman said:You've never been around roughnecks then. Them bastards drink hard and fast.

beefcake28 said:The challenge has been issued. Step up...
Scotsman said:Oh I'm game. Just gotta figure out when I'll have time. I leave for Scotland next week and may be there for 2-3 months. Early summer looks like the time for it, and that much time over there and I'll definitely have my drinking shoes worn in again.

mountain muscle said:I am jealous. I get to go down to the gulf first then Denmark and the North Sea. We'll see though, have another directional interview and you know the pay scale there.
I seriously want some offshore work though. Pride jusy emailed me after Maersk.
Scotsman said:If you're up in the north sea and get some time let me know maybe we can grab a pint in Scotland. I should have some down time while I'm there.

mountain muscle said:I have to get my offshore experience in the gulf first, the rig I was interviewed for won't be delivered until march 08 so we have some time. I would love to explore over there.
