I don't even see why people support bush more when shit goes wrong and there is a terrorist attack. All it means is that Bush with his big mouth on fighting terrorism is simply failing miserably and his "strong leadership" is a joke. That even with a military budget greater than that of the rest of the world combined he can't stop a bunch of low tech low budget sand criminals who will fuck with the USA whenever they want.

I'll be the first to admit that the terrorists can play mindgames pretty easily with all of this intercepted "chatter", but Homeland Security is also under a lot of pressure where the "threat levels" are concerned. My understanding is that each time they raise the level it costs the cities a lot of money for extra manpower, added shifts, etc., and they're not too fond of that.

The government was pretty specific this time with centering on New York city only. If it was merely political "spin", I would think that better spin would have been accomplished with making it a threat to everyone in the US, instead of just New York.
