The secret to cutting?

I would appreciate some vets chiming in here to share some insights on the difficulties in cutting. The choice of drugs is not important here as we all know what the faithfull standby's are. We also all know that "diet" is important. but here lies the key, diet. Well how do you diet? It must not be that simple since most people fail and never get ripped. So were they missing some critical nutrient? Was there 50 grams of protein daily they skipped out on or did not account for and it caused them to binge late at night? Just what exactly was the key in your cutting sucess? And don't say diet, we all pretty much know that basics there. Was it low cals for months on end? Was it iron will and determination? Was it both? In otherwords is the key to a cutting diet sticking to it for a long time despite not seeing instant results?

I think you answered this yourself. Clean cutting (minimal muscle loss) takes time. Low calories w/ high protein over about 7 months took me from 230-185, then clen tossed in there took me from 185-170. Don't ask why i went so low =)

I think next spring i'm going to run a ckd diet, but that's not set yet.

Yes here i think you hit the nail on the head. 7 months clean diet, what BF did you start at and end at? You see my dillema is that people always talk about 2 or 6 week cutters.

DEDICATION!!!!

diest fail, cuz people dont have the heart,

dieting is just as simple as it sounds, eat clean, dont eat alot, stay in the gym, and if your jumpy add some cardio and or sups to speed it up
but it all comes down to staying dedicatied to the routine!

Peace

started at 26% bf, ended up at about 16.4%, taken with calipers so that may not be dead on.

It's like the saying goes, the perfect diet is the one you will stick too.

But more importantly i think that most of the obese need to look at it as a lifestyle change.

So the consensus i'm getting here is that the key is "TIME". You can't rush cutting like you can bulking, this is what i'm getting fro you guys.

BTW: Isn't dropping 10 % BF in seven months a little long? Not flaming just trying to understand the time it takes thing.

i'm 5'11", my ultimate goal is about 230 at 9% body fat =)

right now i'm about 195 at about 13%.

Possibly, but diet played a huge role in me losing what i did. When i nailed my diet, the weight came off a bit faster...expect maybe, 2-3 lbs a week if everything is in check.

Mike

P.S. there are many ways i would think you could rush cutting. Running an extreme fat burner + AAS would yield similar results i would think

Then your cutting was all natty i gather. That's cool but i think you could make it easier on your body and mind. I wonder if fasting is appropriate when cutting.

Thanks for the reply dude. I'm really gathering here that cutting is all about the time test. Bulking is easy but cutting, well that takes some serious patience and balls.

Over the last twelve years two things that are of primary importance;

1. Exercise frequency, you need to workou 5-6 days per week eve if it's just cardio.

2. Meal timing, I've found consuming most of your daily carbs(~80%) during and immediately after your workout helps dramatically. In the past I have always had problems with evening carb cravings and since I perform evening workouts it even helps with compliance!

NO!!!

fasting is not the awnser, it is actually the opposite. Eating is essential, you must eat, it is all about how much you eat, what you eat and when you eat it! Timing is essential, especially when it comes to the meals.

It takes time to be able to shed the FAT you want. alot of the loss at first will just be water, but slowly but surely it will come off!!!

and 10% BF from a 230lb person is around 23lbs of solid fat!! so taking 7 months to shed that is awesome!!!!!

awesome goals bro

When I started seriously I was 178 at 6' and about 16%
last I checked (less than a month ago before I went home on R&R) I was 193 at just under 12% and I never really did a cutting phase!

my end goal is 215 at 8%!!!!

good luck on the goals bro, you'll be a monster!!

peace

good luck on yours as well, and thanks for the compliments...it makes the work that much more worth it =)

I'm not talking about fasting all the time, but once every 2 weeks for a day might be a good idea. I've done it in the past and liked the discipline it teaches you. Plus after fasting for one day like a Sunday, when i have the dextrose and protein shake, the muscles explode with hardenss and vascularity.

oh ok, my bad, thought you were tlaking about an extended amount of time. I have heard of people taking one day where you eat little to nothing, and one day where you indulge. to all their own, I like to just keep it balanced all the time, with one cheat meal!

Peace
