The Racing Bug!!!

Last weekend I went with a couple friends to Savannah to help them with some pit stops in a WERA sponsered motorcycle race. There was a six hour endurance race on Saturday and sprint races on Sunday. I have never even driven a motorcycle, but I knew after Sunday that I would have to get one and race! I have been having dreams about bikes everynight!

Who has a Suzuki GSXR600 or 750 they want to sell me!

I'll sell you my 2001 Busa.
Full Akropovic exhaust system.
Ohlin shock.
European chip, no limited US chips!
Lowered to 30 inch seat height.
Never been dropped.
Has 4k miles.

How does 9K plus freight cost sound??

PS. It has a custom Corbin seat. The seat is slimmer. Still fits the mono/biposto cap thingy.

JESUS H CHRIST!!!!!!! DO NOT BUY A GSXR AS YOUR FIRST BIKE, EVEN IF YOU PLAN TO RACE IT!!!!!!!!

Take the same money and buy a used 250 2 stroke race bike (plenty fast). If you also want a street bike, pick up a used street bike. If money is not a concern, buy new but DO NOT buy a repli-racer as your first street bike!!!!!

And if you do want to race, make sure you have enough money for a nice set of full leathers, helmet, boots, basic riding/racing school and money to repair your race bike. YOU WILL DROP IT!!!!

I loved my Yamaha YZF600r. It was plenty fast but a lot more comfortable and forgiving than the R6. As a matter of fact, I rode with and hung with my buddies who rode bigger engine bikes. You can only use so much power on the street. God I miss it. :bawling:

Oh, I have an 2000 Aprilia RSV250.

I might be persuaded to sell it.

It's bone stock except is has a carbon fiber slip-on pipe.

Actually one of the guys who was racing has a GSXR400 that he use to race that he will sell me for $1500. It has to be put back together and needs some parts though.

All four people that were on our Endurance Team wrecked at least once during the weekend. The best was my friends last sprint race on Sunday. He crashed going into turn one at 170 MPH or so. He broke his frame in half, warped his rear tire, bent the subframe, shredded all the fiberglass, and walked away with little damage to himself.

The fire is burning!!!

Busa's are the king of all crotch rockets, dont buy a big bike as your first,i rode my buddies 1100 ninja last night and it is a shit load of bike and i know for a fact that a busa is much more, get a lil 500 ninja or something, anything bigger your gonna dump er

I see what you're saying but engine size isn't usually what makes you wreck.

You can get a bigger bike. It's not the size of the engine that gets you in trouble (it is a factor though). It's the stablity. Race replica bike are twitchy and less forgiving. They also get you into trouble a lot faster than other bikes.

Take a street rider lesson. After that, you should be able to judge your level of experience and estimate your learning curve.

I had a very fast bike but took classes and rode within my limits and I never dumped it. However, if I'd been on an R6, I probably would have.

And the Busa is not the king of all crotch rockets. It's only fast in a straight line. It's a bit heavy and doesn't turn as fast as the repli-racers. Don't get me wrong though, a VERY nice bike and one I'd love to have. But not king. The king is a toss up between the GSXR1000 and the R1.

yeah i know when i got my r1 it was like relearning to ride again since i mainly learned on cruisers and small ninja's (500s) but once you get it down having the extra power is great, and nothing feels better then some 70mph wheelies.

The king of all racers is either the R1 or Ducati 998.

Unless you're looking at straight line stats, then it's the Busa.

The r1 is a close second to the 998, now that I've considered it a little more. The R1 absolutely needs a super tight damping system, whereas the lower engine of the 998 makes it less squirely.

It's an excellent car dodger at speeds under 70Mph. Anything faster and it's like herding cats through a mouse maze.

I love it though, every stinkin' Import Freak on Earth wants to race me off the line, for some reason they think their tricked out Accord can beat it in a 1/4 mile.

Also, manufacturers have self imposed a 300km/hr top speed on all bikes now so top speed is a useless measure.

And the 70mph wheelie comment only proves my point about how a newbie doesn't need to get a repli-racer. :D

My dream bike is a Superhawk. Basically the same engine as the RC51 but tuned for more torque (which V-Twins have tons of anyway). Plus a comfortable ride, and many reviews say the normal rider is faster on a Superhawk than on a RC51. Plus Corbin makes a sweet custom saddle and hardbags for it. Check 'em out. :p

Corbin makes the BEST seats ever.

I would LOVE to have the saddle with the little detachable passenger backrest. GOD that would be awesome. My YZF was horrible to ride someone on. The design and seat material made them ride your back the whole time. They kept sliding down on me whenever I slowed down. And those hard bags are fucking TRICK.

It is not comfortable to have anyone ride with me on the busa.

If I have a passenger I ride my POS monster. Been trying to sell this bitch since I got it. Anyone who wants a 95 Monster 900
single Akropovic exhaust system
Ohlin shock
xenon headlight
DynoJet Stage II jetting
All lines are steel braided

Buy this Corbin Saddle.

Damn, thats a nice seat!!!
Mine is a narrow seat from corbin (I'm short).

But the seat back would be cool to have, wonder if it's removable?

For those too lazy to click the link for the Superhawk, here's my baby with the seat and hard bags I want.

I have to agree with what frorider6 says. Get a smaller bike, buy leathers and take some riding classes. Best money i have spent. I started with a 600CC Yamaha Seca 2. A small, light and easy to ride bike that was actually a sport tourer.

Now sometime later i ride the CBR1100XX Super Blackbird. Man, now this is a bike. It has a dual counterbalanced engine with ZERO vibration. It's the smoothest engine in the world and has a respectable 140 rear wheel horse power. Incidentally it's also considered a sports tourer. OHH and it's fast if you want it to be, I've hit up to 170 on it and still had room to accelerate but ren out of balls.

Have fun and enjoy riding.

When I went to the Suzuki/Honda dealership to get some goodies added to my busa I checked out the CBRxx.

The seat height is way too high for me :(
While I could lower it, I've found that lowering bikes too much (more than an inch or so) and you start to sacrifice handling.

If only it was .7 inches lower.....

But I seriously have to stop buying bikes. My garage is starting to look like a dealership.

But I would LOVE a CBRxx!!!
