The New Twenty Dollar Bill

I saw this on three different news shows today, all three explaining it is to guard against counterfeiting. Someone please explain to me how? So it will be harder to counterfeit this new 20. wtf? how does this do anyting? so people wont be counterfeiting the "new" bill, woopty dooo!!!what about every other bill that was made before it?
