With lots of drugs/supplements, after a while your body gets used to the drug and it no longer have any effect (or a slighter one which leads to increased dosage)

and it seams logical....

But, with others it is the opposite :
"After two weeks of use, Valerian did not provide any immediate benefit. However, after four weeks, significant improvements in sleep quality were reported as compared to those who were given a placebo"

How come ?

Valerian being a natural heral supplement takes longer to get into your system, it is a cummulative affect. This is why medical drugs have a benefit over natural therapies, they work much faster. But on the flip side, natural supplements have fewer, if any side affects. If your looking for a good night sleep, valerian is great. I have been using it for a while

Thank you for the explanation :)

and yes I'm looking or a good night sleep

I've tried valerian, though not continuelly for weeks, and it did not bring much benefit

If you've any other suggestion ... (no prescription drug if possible)

kava kava isnt too bad. i just wouldnt go over 250-300mg. Kava is an exception to the herbal supplements, it actually works relatively quick

is your problem falling asleep...or is it staying asleep?? there is a difference then in which supplements would be more beneficial

Falling asleep

Kava is certainly great but expensive and difficult to find since some morons claimed consuming kava-based or kava-containing products can lead to liver damage (in 1 case over 1000000000000000000000000000000 or so)

for falling asleep valerian and kava are the best, just look around for the kava...there is still some good stuff out there. I dont think they sell it at GNC anymore. Fruitful yield has it, or you can get online.
