the matrix trilogy vs. starwars trilogy vs. lotr.

sw,lotr, matrix. it shouldnt even be called a trilogy it should be called :"one good movie that stood alone against 2 shitty sequels"

I'd say:
1. LoTR
2. Matrix (sorry but I liked it)
3. Original Star Wars trilogy
4. Piece of shit new Star Wars trilogy.

Yarg! : I'm totally agree

well I like a lot Matrix but I think nothing can beat Star Wars.

I hope by Star Wars you mean the original. But even then I think it's popularity is rooted in nostalgia and an era of lower expectations

I dont think The Matrix was a trilogy, I think it was really just a single movie followed by another long movie that was broken into two showings. I liked it but part two and three really could not, and to some didn't, stand alone as movies by themselves. I think it was the most complex of all the movies that you listed. I've watched the first one many times and still pick up something new each time.

lotr.. w/o a doubt EPIC.

Just watched the finale tonight... a true classic. LOTR is an awesome display of movie making.

I really liked the Matrix as well, LOTR is on a slightly higher plane.

Star Wars is Geigh!! compared to either of these two.

I grew up on starwars, but LOTR dominates starwars and matrix. also if you get a chance watch the directors cuts lotr movies out on DVD. sure it adds about an hour, but it makes the movies that much better.

Lord of the Rings will be champion for a long, long time.

Don't forget the Scream Trilogy! That comes second!

LoTR is epic.

Matrix is trite and over-done. Oh gee, another Jesus/Chosen One themed movie.

The only thing the matrix has contributed to pop culture is it kicked FX up a notch, period.

I said it on this board as soon as I heard LOTR was gonna be made. LOTR was gonna blow all else out of the water when it came out.....Including the original Star Wars. Was my opinion those few years ago and still is my opinion.

Matrix is over-done?

Interesting statement considering the first was a land-mark movie in many respects.

The symbolism also goes much deeper than the jesus similarities.

In the second movie the way free choice/free will is portrayed is certainly interesting.

Free agency is generally the corner-stone of most christian faiths.
Waaaay too many christ-figure aspects of the movie.

What respects, other than FX, was the first one a land-mark in??!!
Nothing.

LOTR has to be the best hands down! I just hope they don't come 20 years later and make another sequel of LOTR like they did of star wars!
well peter jackson may come back to do those hobbit prequels.

"Those" prequels?
There was ONE Hobbit.

Unless they break one book into two like they did with the last movie.

Which would suck, cuz the first movie would be nothing but Bilbo bitching and whining and the whole crew walking down the fucking road.

Action sequences, special effects, and had a completely unique plot.

What was the last movie you saw about reality being a construct of machines who are using it to control humanity?

Who loved the burly brawl in matrix reloaded with the 100 agent smiths and neo? The highway chase scene was cool too! Only flaw matrix reloaded had a the sex scene. That part could had been left out! It dragged the movie down a bit.

Damn near every other Sci-Fi novel has a luddite theme Exactly like this. Books that have been out decades longer than this pop culture teen flick.

Action sequences? Eye candy. No depth.

FX, more eye candy.

Plot != unique.

Similar movies?
Blade Runner
Andromeda Strain
And every 1950's robot flick.......

LOTR.

Matrix? was a trilogy? one good movie followed by two long comercials.

SW is actually an 'epic' in 9 parts.

STAR WARS was my favorit.

i agree the new movies are not as good as the orriginal.

but all in all i liked the dirty, space gangster idea.... who buillt a story anything like star wars.

and there is 9 parts

shadows of the empire is sick.

BO-DEN

LOTR without a doubt

star wars was also very good and is perhaps on par considering the lack of cgi, video editing etc etc. for 20 year old films they are excellent

LOTR is strong on so many points though- epic scale, cinematography, acting, casting, special effects....just such a rich series

What about the BTTF Trilogy?

Damn! I forgot about that one. But that's kinda old now don't you think?

No way bro!! Good storytelling never gets old!!

1. Original Star Wars - there is just some things that computers cant touch. I miss the old days of 'real' movie making so much.
2. LOTR - these have been the best thing in a long time.
3. Indiana Jones Trilogy - cant forget these now can we?
4. BTTF - I'll throw ol Marty a bone here, I loved these when they came out.
5. Hmm.. cant think of any more right now for some reason.

602. Matrix (First one rocked and was ground breaking, second 2 were overdone and nowhere near as good)

Peter Jax next film project is a remake of "King Kong" actually. I was actually disappointed with the second two LOTR installments. In the first one, there were so many cliff-hangers, chase scenes, and tension filled atmospheres. The second two films had none of that, other than the creepy scene between Frodo and Shelob in ROTK. The second two relied more on battle sequences alone. But hey, that is how the book goes, and I'm noone to question that surely. I did like the second two LOTR films, but was disapointed I guess, since I went into both hoping for them to be more like the first story, which is easily the best movie I have ever seen.

And yes, they are going to do "The Hobbit" as well.

Thre lastest LOTR may be the most impressive movie I have seen. It is in its own league in a couple respects....lenght in one of them.

i didn't mind rotk's length. movies really should be long enough to immerse the viewer into the world and let the story unfold. i hate movies that seem rushed. you know i would be much happier dropping 10 bucks for movies if they weren't 90 min jokes.

Something tells me that in the near future Matrix trilogy will be re-released with a special edition format. Additional scenes a plus!

well in a way starwars is going to win anyway because #1. It's been around much longer and #2. The matrix trilogy is rated r and fewer people will be able to see that.
