Watching some show the other night talking about what Winston Churchill called "The Grand Alliance." which was of course made of the US the Soviet Union, and Great Britian. To make a long boring story short. the show argued wether or not the alliance was a natural, not natural, or a reluctant alliance.
to me is seemed like a 'natural' alliance in the sense that it
came together because of a mutually-perceived danger and
with a pre-set series of war plans. This is what, more
or less, had happened in the Great War, with the
existence long before 1914 of two alliance systems with
their own war plans, of which each member was aware, and
over which the military and naval authorities had mulled
and coordinated their ideas.
