Has anyone else read this? i love books like this, that try to explain how we have all been misled. Any book that can disprove a widely accepted myth and show where real threat/truth lies is something i want to read.

The author uses alot of his examples to push his left wing anti gun crap on the readers. In a way he is no different than michael moore in bowling for columbine. He replaces one half ass stereotype with another.

basically most of the stuff the media tells you to be afraid of (drugs, internet pedophiles, stalkers, razors in halloween candy) is just an attempt at ratings by using isolated incidents & exaggerated statistics (which is obvious). But by doing that, americans are being taught that the real world is much more dangerous than it really is and that the wrong things are dangerous, and that leaves them uneducated in the face of real dangers. While parents make sure their kids aren't on some chat room talking to a pedophile (because cyberpredators are hyped in the media), the uncle is probably butt fucking the son in the bathroom and no one knows about it because they've been bullshitted.

People are misled by isolated incidents passed off as commonplace by the media. THis makes them ignorant of what is really dangerous.

Its kindof what Beale said in the movie network 'You're beginning to believe the illusions we're spinning here, you're beginning to believe that the tube is reality and your own lives are unreal! You do! Why, whatever the tube tells you: you dress like the tube, you eat like the tube, you raise your children like the tube, you even think like the tube! This is mass madness, you maniacs! In God's name, you people are the real thing, WE are the illusion!

Ahhhh Cool.... I dont' even watch the news anymore because of the insanity like this.

I flipped on the TV Friday afternoon, I was home baby sitting, and I hit CNN, I saw Ben Stien and two other people discussing the possibility of war. One of the guest takes a jab at Ben Stien and then Stien goes off with a "you're so full of crap (so-n-so)..." I flipped the TV off and thought. What has infotainment sunken to when Ben Stien gets pissed?
