Ted Williams died

Forgot to add this part:

"With a dependent mother, Williams received a military deferment from his draft board in 1942. When that season ended, though, he enlisted, becoming a Marine flier. In 1946, he returned to lead the Red Sox to the pennant and his first MVP award.

As a member of the Marine Reserves, was called up as a jet pilot in 1952. After combat service as a fighter pilot in Korea, he rejoined the Red Sox late in the 1953 season."

Think that would happen these days.......well other than Pat Tillman????

Sad but not a shock. In and out of hospitals for years. RIP to one of the greatest ever...

One of the greatest hitters of all time. I remember when Tony Gynne (or however you spell it) got to meet him at the all star game. Even he was in awe of Williams.

Really too bad. His boy, John Henry just started playing rooking ball with the Red Sox org at the age of 33 trying to get a shot at following his father. He was his caregiver as well.

Ted was a good man:bawling:

Who else can say they were a war hero....and Major League Baseball's MVP?

He was John Glenn's wingman....how cool is that?
