well i went in and got a tb test done cause i was going to do some volunteer work and my test showed up as positive on my arm. i got x-rays but havent heard back yet about how they looked or if im being affected by it or if it is just dormat. I am on fina currently and I dont know if i should stop now or what, im 4 weeks into my cycle. should I stop now? or what? also, will they run blood tests? if so my bloodwork will probably be fuct, so thats not cool, im just kinda worried right now, any help, thanks!

Here is a site that goes into a little more detail on TB and may be of help. I didn't see anything about doing blood work on the site so you should be okay.

If for some reason they do some blood work your best bet is to be honest with the doctor so he knows all the facts and doesn't end up treating you for something that isn't happening.

Hope everything works out for you. Keep us informed.

whoa damn.... get better NOW tb is some serious shit.

Don't freak out out over your positive skin test. This just means that your immune system has been exposed to the TB germ. If you're lucky, your body will have completely fought off the infection and the positive response will go away over months/years.

If the TB bacterium did get a foothold in your body, it may be dormant or active. They'll have to do an X-ray to find out. If it's dormant, your not infectious, but your immune system can't quite destroy the protected TB cells. This state may last years or your entire life. Often doctors will give you a course of drugs to finish off the TB.

If it's active, you are infectious to others and if untreated will begin coughing up blood a la Doc Holliday. You'll have to take long course of powerful antibiotics before you're cured.

My roommate in grad school had a positive skin test, and we sweated bullets until his xrays came back clear since we both could have lost our teaching jobs if he had an active infection.
