Ok....im kinda getting pissed off with the way i look. I have a "golf tan" from the summer and it sucks cuse i was to fat back then to take my shirt off and tan my back, chest, abs etc.

Now that i look half respectable without a shirt on, I would like to start to go swimming again. But since every body part other than my forearms and face have never see the sun before, im going to look like a jackass.

So, i have made up my mind am im going to go to a tanning bed at my gym. I have a few questions...

1) I burn, how long should i go for just to tan my skin. I dont want to look too different, but just enough to be noticeablely darker

2) Should i bring anything with me? I have hurd i should cover my eyes and wear SPF 15 sunscreen on my face

3) I always see people with weird tans around their armpits, what do i do so i dont get this?

Any tips would be greatly apresheated

PS: I dont care about skin cancer. Do i want it? hell no! but i live in Canada, so its not like we have more than 2 months of good summer weather, well where i live anyway. So its not like im out in the sun 365 days a year....

EDIT: Will being darker make me looked more ripped and more lean?

:rainbow: Tanning beds are great. I have been using them for several years, none stop. The answers to your questions should be answered by the place that you will tan at. The reason? There are many many different types of beds. One bed is different then the next. If I were you I would just go in and tell them your concerns. They should be able to tell exactly what you need to know, if it's a good salon. Check around at a few different places, then make your decision, based on what you have learned.
If you burn easily...you should start off real slow with your time in the bed. Then increase your time as you begin to get color. (tan) not burned. I do not use any tanning products. I tan very well, and rarely burn. Now as for the eye goggles....thats something you will have to decide. They will give you that ratcoon look around your eyes if you wear them. I just softly close my eyes while I lay, and try to stay relaxed. Don't open them, as that could damage your eyes. Tanning the sides is not that difficult, just a little uncomfortable. If you are able to lay on your side in the bed , this will help give you a more even coverage. Keep your arms above your head. You can do this at different times. Lay on your back one day, then your side the next time your tan...understand?
Good Luck ...... ;)

while i personally don't mess around with tanning anymore i can give you some pretty solid tanning advice.

the base beds take longer and do not give you as good of a tan. take my advice.. you can't be stengy with your money when it comes to tanning. it will cost you a little more but in the end you will be much happier with your results. pay the extra money per month or per session to get the super beds.. it saves you time and gives you a much better tan. don't even waste your time with the base beds. also fork out a little more cash to get a good lotion, you NEED this lotion. if you tan without lotion the damage may not show quickly however it could lead to sunspots and other visible skin damage. so always use your lotion.. and spend a little extra cash to get a decent lotion. since your face tans slower than the rest of your body i'd reccomend getting a good facial lotion as well. also you'll soon come to find out that the tanning goggles they give you are lame as fuck. you don't want to have raccoon eyes... you want to look as natural as possible, and for people to not be able to tell that you tan. go to winkease.com and check out their winkease product. what you do is mold the little strips they give you and you can make them to fit your eye perfectly. it stays on with an adhesive and blocks uv rays as good as regular goggles. AND, when you are moving around trying to tan all of yourself evenly they won't ever fall off. trust.. you need some kind of eye protection or it could lead to snowblindness after a while. so in conclusion... superbeds + good lotion + good eyewear. and yes.. being darker effects shadowing so you will look leaner and more ripped with a tan. good luck homie.

check out winkease.com.. you won't regret it, disposable eye strips you can mold to fit your eyes, no racoon eyes. i suggest you start using some type of goggles though.. because closing your eyes only blocks 25% of uv rays. you are still getting major damage by not using eyewear. also just because you tan well doesn't mean you shouldn't be using any lotion. good lotion accelerates the speed you tan and helps prevent a lot of damage. take my advice... or eventually you'll regret it. you don't want to end up with fuzzier vision and freckles or sunspots.
