Tanning Salons?.......

AUSTIN*5

New member
Have any of you (or anybody you know) opened a tanning salon?? I'm thinking of opening one up in Canada and would like to look at others business plans to get some ideas.

If you have them please email them to me: [email protected]

Anyone have any tips??George: any business strategies I should consider?

Thanx bro's;)

I don't see how you could lose opening one in Canada, I mean they import sunshine up there don't they?

only in the winter... we get enough in the summer (most people think it's too hot, past weekend it was about 35C (95F) was even hotter a few weeks ago)... i love it though... humidex and all..

okay... you get sunshine for 3 weeks... LOL!!!

Ya , you are right our summers are very hot and winters very cold!!!

The reason I'm debating a salon is b/c even though it is very nice here in the summer, I never seem to get the tan I want since I'm in the office all day during peak sun hours.

I'm sure there are others out there that feel the same as me.

Anyone else? Someone own or know someone who owns one???;)

Anyone go to a particular salon they really like? If so what makes it soo good?

yup, i tend to tan at a salon more during the summer than the winter... i hardly ever see the real sun here between work and the gym...

i go to one in Toronto by yonge and eglington... i go there cause its cheap and close to my work...i don't go real often though...

i think location would be a major factor in where to put them, i've seen ones out in the middle of nowhere that have great prices but go out of business real quick since its not convienent...

Go for it bro!!! I have owned a few tanning beds and a few stand up tanning units. Never thought about opening a tanning salon. Should work well in Canada...

Good Luck..

Phemomena : Ya I'm the same. I go to one every so often to get some nice colour.

I'm in Ottawa and there are a few nice locations around. There are already a few established salons and they are always booked solid! This is one of the reasons I think it might be viable.

So basically I should think about low tanning prices b/c thats what got you to go to yours right?. Is it nice inside?

LegBreaker : Thanx for the support brother!

;)

its alright.. there are three close together to where i go, and i go to the cheapest one... some of the beds suck and they move them around a lot so if you don't go often you cant find your "fav" :(

i guess price, after location is the deciding factor to me... along with the fact that this one is a walk in, you don't need to make appointments... even during peak times you generally just wait 10 min or so and your in... not like a schedule place where if one person is late the entire day gets pushed around...

they have 4 dollar tans... i heard in Ottawa (this was probably a few years back) but there were places that had dollar tans... if that's still the practice, competing on price leve probably won't be all that great unless you already have the equipment.

I haven't heard of dollar tans. unless you buy an insane package ..then work out the cost per day and you get something like 1.24$.....I have to investigate that a little more. Maybe I'm going to the wrong place!!!;)
