tanning for the really white among us

Rudolf

New member
Ok , I am of nordic descent (blond hair blue eyes and I have quite a few moles on my body)

So I am very white and not very tolerant to sunlight.

I dont want to be really really tanned , I just want to give my skin a healthy glow because I am very white and pinkish and I want my muscle definition to show.

where I live we have winter for like 9 months of the year so tanning salons are pretty much my only chance of getting a tan.

I just want a good normal tan , I dont want to look gay , just healthy.

Please give me some tips , on how to maximize safety and things to look for when looking for a tanning salon

Thanks:fro:

start off with very little amounts of minutes in the sun bed, depends on the bulbs too. Anywhere from 8-15 minutes to start. But you must use a lotion. ANd to build your base, go often, like almost every day until you get a base. After that, go once or twice a week to maintain it.

or...you dont have to go tanning. i used a self-tanning lotion by Ban de Solei (sp?). you have to be careful and put it on evenly or otherwise you'll see streaks. makes you look really tan and not that orange look. i used that, plus i went tanning on a regular basis...this was all before i went to cancun. the only problem is, it starts coming off on your clothes if they rub against you. i was wearing no sleeve shirts and tank tops and the arm part was getting orangey from it. also when i shaved, you can see the orange film on the razor. one application lasted for about a week. i got about 3-4 applications out of the bottle. bought it at CVS or something. it was like $5-$10 max.

Start going to a tanning salon and tan for about 8-12 mintues first few sessions and use after-sun lotion. After that go in for about 15 min sessions and keep doing that and you should be pretty tan after couple weeks.
I am not very white, I have a "darker" white skin but one time I needed to look really tan and used the sunless lotion and only thing I don't like about them is the horrible smell.

i'm very fair too and i don't tan brown i get kind of golden... but when i tan at the salon when i'm really pale i go about 7-8 mins for a couple of sessions and then gradually go up by a minute until i get to about 12 mins... then i go up by 2-3 mins until i can withstand a full 20 min session.

when you choose your salon, find one that isn't by session but lets you keep the minutes you didn't use so that you aren't wasting your money.

I'm pretty fair too, takes me a while to get tanned, though I never tend to burn? hm. Anyway something that helped me a lot was tanning pills called Elu-Sun that I took while going to teh salon. They're great, I got darker than I've ever been (which is average for most people)

I honestly don't know, Playdo, since I was going to the tanning salon at the same time and then I went on vacation... but my tan did stick around longer than normal, and I tan more easily now - I took a few weeks off the pills but I'm considering starting them again, just because even when I wasn't taking them (maybe because of the basetan I'd built up by then) I had a much easier time getting good color.
