I dont know if its just me or not but when i tan outside naturally i get a nice dark tan. WHen i tan indoors i seem to get red all the time. I stay red from indoor tanning too. Am i doing something wrong?

different kinds of indoor beds. Some are crap - high amounts of uva-b. Try to use the ones with low uva-b - much safer than sun and more effective at tanning. Less time needed in them than in sun or other beds.

Correct. There are 3 different types of UVA light, a, b, and c. Most tanning beds produce UV "B" Light. This is more of a reddening light that does not penetrate as far into the skin as UV "A". UV A can be found in sunlight, which is why you get a nice brown from the sun. It can also be found in your "high pressure" or "super" beds at tannning salons. it has s differnt bulb in it, which produces the different type of light. As far as i know you will not find anything that produces UV "C" light. Of course will all beds, a super bed, or high pressure bed will still burn you, and produce a red color, so its very important to build your base tan up by going for short ammounts of time, such as 10 mins, for a few days, and if you think your body can handle it step up to 12 minutes. Continue this for 3 or 4 times, and gradually work your body up to full time, or your ideal time. This practice should be used with ANY indoor tanning bed. If you have any questions PM me, and i will help you out.

Cliffnotes: Go for a high pressure, or super bed to get a dark brown tan, and not worry about redness.

high pressure booths are a waste of money, I own a Hollywood Tans, if there is one near you try the HT54. Get a package of 6 along with a bottle of brazilian hemp lotion (it contains bronzer in it). I will give you a schedule on how you should tan and you will be nice and dark, not red.

Go tanning every three days and increase your minutes to the maxium of 10.

Session 1 - 7 minutes
Session 2 - 8 minutes
Session 3 - 8 miniutes
Session 4 - 9 minutes
Session 5 - 9 minutes
Session 6 - 10 minutes

Thats should give you a good base tan in a span of 18 days, its sounds like a long time but its the only way to do it without un-necessary burning, remember burning is bad for you!!

stay away from base beds.. a waste of your time. like someone else said, go for better beds. ask them if they have a bed with only bronzing lamps... the best ones have only bronzing lamps not regular lamps. spend a little extra money on the best, and you'll never get red and you'll get a lot darker. and find a good lotion and use it every time.
