That assumption is correct sir..............though now I'm down to one car until next spring. The family always comes first. Just a basic '91 Talon AWD with basic mods. Fast,reliable and fun to drive.

since you are very familiar with dsm's and you have had more than one.

have you ever experienced pknock? phantom knock that comes and goes? im reading all the boards online to try to fix this shit.

im hating life cause my car is retarding the timing so much for no apparent reason. im thinking of changing the o2 sensor, knock sensor and lifters just to take all that shit out of the equation.i hear carbon buildup is the culprit sometimes too. it sucks to be ready to go and get smoked by a ford focus sometimes. hehe.

my big 16g should be pulling me past many things.

Yup and you could do what I did........keep in mind its a down and dirty way of fixing it AND your car won't be able to detect knock if it actually occurs. (You should have engine monitoring anyway).
Simply take your knock sensor OUT (believe me its a real bitch to get at especially when you got big arms) and leave it out. Keep it connected to the connector and simply let it sit on the vacuum hoses on the drivers side of your engine bay. Then take Silicone and smear it in the hole of the sensor. You also should ground the sensor by wrapping a wire on the threads and grounding it to your firewall or engine. If you simply disconnect the sensor the engine will go into "limp" mode........not cool
Be sure to check out www.dsm.org if you already haven't, also jion the mailing list. There's an unreal amount of info there and alot of discussions on phantom knock in the archives and FAQ's.
Also look up on the MCCC engine flush...this WORKS and makes your engine alot quieter.

I was not dissing your edumacation (sic) just that its seemed rather odd to inject such an immature comment when a guy asked me an honest question............that's all.

im hating this pknock. i read up on the mccc a while back. thanks bro, im gonna give my o2 sensor a shot since i bought one. dont have engine monitoring or fuel controllers yet. so i am still not sure whether i should chance a new sensor. ill do some more reading. ive spent a lot of time on dsm.org lately and joined a yahoo group dedicated to pknock. they have tons of datalogs showing it and they have some wild ideas. hehe. real wild.
