Taking Orals? Eat Your Beans

Singleton

New member
This is for your liver, because I care about your liver.

All steroids are hepatoxic, but oral steroid (e.g. d-bol) are more hepatoxic than injectables (e.g. sustanon). The liver will do it's best to try to break down the steroid, but it can't. The steroid wins. In the process, the liver's enzymes SGOT and SGPT go way up, and this is very hard on the liver.

Silymarin, which is found in milk thistle extract, can help, and so can beans, expecially the Mung Bean.

In the study below, Mung bean was effective in reducing SGOT and SGPT and was hepatoprotective.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/...ve&db=PubMed&list_uids=11417915&dopt=Abstract

Mung bean, adzuki bean, black bean and rice bean are foods and folk medicines of Taiwan. We evaluated the effects of various water extract concentrations (100, 500 and 1000 mg/kg body wt.) and silymarin (25 mg/kg body wt. on acetaminophen-induced liver injury by measuring serum glutamate-oxalate-transaminase (sGOT) and serum glutamate-pyruvate-transaminase (sGPT) activities in rats. The results showed that the sGOT and the sGPT activities, increased by APAP, were decreased significantly (P < 0.05) through treatment with inceasing amounts up to 1000 mg/kg body wt. of the exracts. In particular, the mung bean aqueous extract showed the best hepatoprotective effect on APAP-induced hepatotoxicity. The pathological changes of liver injury caused by APAP improved by the treatment with all of the legume extracts, which were compared to silymarin as a standardized drug. In addition to these results, the extract of mung bean acted as a potential hepatoprotective agent in dietary supply.

Good study, but if our livers are in good health.. if we detox it and enhance its function while on a cycle this will reduce the amount of 17aa steroid floating around right? Reducing the activity of the roid?

The liver cannot break down the steroid.

So no, minimizing liver damage with silymarin or mung bean won't lessen the effects of the oral steroid.

Nice read bro, can you buy this in an extract or do you have to eat the beans and shit your pants? I have never had mung beans, but I eat black beans every morning. Beans are wicked for you. Great carbs, protien AND fiber.

Nice read.

I think that you'll defintiely have to shit your pants to reap the full benefits.

All kidding aside, you can probably find mung bean sprouts in the produce section. They taste great. I like them on sandwiches.

You can try spicy Thai mung bean soup.

Nice post bro.........BUT:

The biggest problem I have with this research is that is does NOT discern or identify if the thistle or the mung bean is the "reason" for the enzyme decrease. So, it could be the milk thistle! Afterall, it IS used for liver regeneration!

I'll agree that the absrtact isn't that clear. It looks like there were a total of 4 groups.
1) 100 mg/kg body wt.
2) 500 mg/kg body wt.
3) 1000 mg/kg body wt
4) and silymarin 25 mg/kg body wt

I don't see this so clearly stated in the absrtact.

"... We evaluated the effects of various water extract concentrations (100, 500 and 1000 mg/kg body wt.) and silymarin (25 mg/kg body wt..."

"...The pathological changes of liver injury caused by APAP improved by the treatment with all of the legume extracts, which were compared to silymarin as a standardized drug..."

Honestly, I have only herd of two cases of liver problems from bro's. Once guy who's eyes turned yellow from doing too many cheque drops and another guy who did 100mg of halo / day for 6 weeks.

I believe the liver amps up its enzymes but that doesnt mean its doing damage. There is the case of the little girl on 30mg anadrol / day for 6 years, leading to carcenoma or something but that is 6 years! and she was only 100lbs tops.

the abstract does say that the bean extracts were compared to milk thistle, not that they were combined with it. so the beans do have a protective effect.

Twistedneck, it may be that the reports of liver damage are v-rare, but surely that doesnt mean that we shouldnt try and help our liver as much as possible?

Having pad thai tonight (with mung beans, of course). Wife is cooking, which is good, cause this dbol makes me so tired :o

By the way, did you ever see that south park where cartman calls the other kids mung and then found out what mung really means?

Stan: No! They'll catch on! Hey! Wait a minute! I've got a great idea! Let's make up our own word! We can make up a word and then use it, and then, they'll act like they know it, and we'll bust'em!

Kyle: Yeah! That'll make 'em look stupid!

Stan: What word could we make up?!

Kyle: How 'bout "Finkleroy"?!

Stan: No, no! Not "Finkleroy"!

Cartman: How 'bout "Gebo" or, or "Mung"?!

Stan: Yeah! "Mung"!

Kyle: "Mung"'s good!

Stan: Sh! Here they come!

(The New York Kids enter.)

New York Kid #1: Well hello there, queefs! All bundled up nice and warm, are we?!

Stan: You know what you guys are?! You guys are nothing but mung!

New York Kid #1: Wha'di'ju call us?!

New York Kid #2: We're not mung! You're mung!

Kyle: Oh! So you know what "mung" means! Huh?!

New York Kid #1: Of course we know what "mung" means!

New York Kid #3: Yeah! 'Ju think we wouldn't know what "mung" means?!

Stan: Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!

(Stan, Kyle, and Cartman start laughing.)

Stan: We've busted you!

Kyle: Yeah! Yeah! "Mung" isn't even a word! We made it up!

(Stan, Kyle, Cartman, and Kenny laugh some more.)

New York Kid #1: You guys are even stupider than I thougt! "Mung" is SO a word!

(The four kids continue laughing and then stop.)

Stan: It is?!

New York Kids: Yeah, it is, huh!

New York Kid #1: Yeah! "Mung" is the stuff that comes out when ya push down on a pregnant woman's stomach!

Kyle: Eeeeeew!

Stan: Oh!

New York Kid #2: You guys didn't know that?!

(All the New York kids laugh tons.)

New York Kid #1: C'mon, guys! Let's get away from these rednecks before we get redneckacitis, or somethin'! (The New York kids leave.)

Stan: (to Cartman) You dumbass, Cartman!

Kyle: Yeah! Next time you make up a word, don't make up one that already exists!
