T4 vs T3 question

Hey there, a buddy of mine is able to get some T4 cheap and was wondering if it is worth getting. to my understanding T3 is better at burning fat but will T$ DO THE TRICK?

Yes I have always used T3, but my friend can only get T4 and I was wondering if it was worth it.

T4 won't do anything if he's dieting. T4 has to be converted to T3 and while dieting this conversion is faulty. Hence the reason for T3.

T4 is a precursor to T3. It is converted to T3 by the liver. When dieting the liver enzymes levels decrease so this conversion is inhibited to some extent (that's the body's mechanism of decreasing metabolic rate in order to adapt to the restricted caloric intake). This means that T4 will have little effect while dieting because only a small part of it will be converted to the much more potent T3.
