My wife is on the HRT bandwagon but according to her blood work her big problem is T# & T4 being super low.
T3,Total = 54.9 Range = 80-200ng/dl
T3, Free = 1.2 Range = 1.8 - 4.6/pg/ml
T4, Total = 2.9 Range = 5.1 - 14.1
These numbers are 3 weeks old. She had been on 1.2 Gr Synthroid for a year prescribed by another Dr. Our current Dr. switched her to Armour Thyroid 2 months prior to these levels being taken. I asked him if she might benefit from T3 supplement and he said she was getting it from the Armour along with T4....the T4 would convert to T3. Well obviously this is not happening and she has no energy...duh!! He told her to double her Armour dose to 65 mg (1 Gr) daily which she has done. She did this starting 2 weeks ago and has hadno increase in energy.
I don't want to throw our MD under the bus on this but am I right in thinking she needs a hell of alot more T3 than she is getting?
