Surfing at work -- A secret URL for the boards

Bro's for those of you that surf the boards at work, do you think a good feature for Platinum members would be a a private URL like

financial-information.com or accounting-journal.com

If you are Platinum, you can go to this URL and surf the boards (we can even remove the elitefitness.com headers and footers), but when a systems admin or boss goes to the URL, they will only see accounting information or financial information.

What are your thoughts? Is this worth developing?

That's sounds like a good idea. I work at a decent sized software company and I'm sure they monitor our web activity. I just don't know how strict they are. Anything to prevent getting canned is a good thing :D

This is not a problem for me since I work for myself. However, for the bros that work for a company, I think this idea is a must!

I think its a very good idea George :)

well.....as a system/admin........hmmmmm........

this MIGHT be ok assuming that your work requires you to lookup such information. for instance, if you work at an auto parts store, what are you looking up accounting information for all the time? also, if your sys/admin is worth his weight, he'll take a look at certain websites from time to time that get hit alot by users. if you're sys/admin is a dork, this will work. if he or she is on the ball, then maybe not.

While I have no worries about work-related surfing, I do indeed think it is a good idea.

Perhaps another variant would be to have a PC technology research oriented website. Many people want help with their PCs, and where's tech support. :)

Moreover, there are a lot of people in IT related professions here.

So George is this going to happin anytime soon?
Also can anyone tell me can my work/school log or see not just being here on this site but know what threads I was viewing/replying??
And what about our encrypted EE e-mail I would think there is no way they can see what I'm doing there??right?

Thanks in advance.

Lets keep bumping this..
So George is this going to happen??
Also anyone have info. on the question I asked above??

Nice idea.

Also - to get around the in-house manager/IT guy censor, who wants to visit the high-hit sites, you could put the password at the entrance, behind a neutral looking entrance page.

One in, get to the good stuff...

my 2 cents

That would be great. But for some reason I can't get to Elite from work in the first place. :(

you mean you can't get to the home page ? That could be a routing problem then :)

George:

Were you planning on simply creating another domain name that points to the same URL as the discussion board (Aka- An Alias Record in your DNS [Domain Name Server]) or are you planning on re-deploying the discussion board using an ASP (Active Server Page) based on the URL input?

Getting around your company's Firewall

The Company Firewall is the device that is usually used to filter IP Ports (used to connect services to programs, IE Port 80 is used for Web Access), and is also used for Stateful inspections (IE, the content of the request, such as the URL). Those of you who are having trouble access in site might try to ping the URL from the command line:

Ping www.elitefitness.com and take note of the IP address. Use this IP address to get to the site. Using this method will probably work on most firewall systems. Most firewalls check the first packet in the TCP connection and there after allow all others to go through after a connection is open. This is typically done for speed. If the Firewall checked every packet then it would slow down the system considerably. Thus is you get to the site, chances are you will be "IN" and can continue your session.

Try this, it may work.

Hope this helps.

Just wondering, is there a hidden link or something, will everyone see the same thing except members would know a special link to click on? I am just curious.

I am the guy that checks the FW logs at my company and checks out what sites people are going to, but I only act on porn and stuff like streaming media that will affect our Internet performance.

Ok, we are working on it. Help me pick the URL. I liked Dexter's idea about computer tech support -- everyone needs that. Also, please post the "fake" info you want on the home page. Or for those of you that know html, feel free to lend a hand with the design. Let's make this a team effort. And to the member that asked, we cannot read your elitefitness.com email.

My supervisor came in my office yesterday and I was checking the boards , but she didn't seem to mind. She looked at me kinda funny though when the "paying for pink" pop-up came up!!:D You might consider at least removing that.
