Supplements for Recovery

Do any of you ladies use supplements specifically for recovery after training? Such as glutamine?

Do you have any suggestions for reducing muscle soreness after training? I wanted to incorporate something different as what I am doing now is not working.

Glutamine Peptides

Thanks. Suggestion on dosages? Should I increase my H2O intake with glutamine usage? (Sorry for so many questions. I tried to do a search and I have to be Plat to search for anything ) :worried:

I've used Glutamine PWO and feel it helps with muscle soreness.......I also use Xtend in my PWO shake (it's glut & amino acids) and that helps too.....

I already drink 1.5-2 gallons of water per day so I don't really increase it any more....

*Taurine (Sold by AF store; white powder; I take a tablespoon PWO and it cures my aches every time, sure enough).
* Stretching! I know it's not a supplement but I know me, I am LAZY when it comes to stretching but it makes my muscles feel soooo much better the day after when I take the time to do it.

I use both glutamine and taurine and I can honestly say I am not as sore as I was when I was training before. Also, I have heard that taking cold showers or hopping into ice will help. Don't know how true it is, but have been trying to find someone willing to give it a shot! I know football players fill huge trash containers full of ice and jump in after practice.

*shivers* @ the thought of icing my FOOT alone, let alone my whole body! Eek! ;)

I have found when I have an injury, when I put my injury (foot, knee, etc.) into an ice water bath, it DOES sting due to the extreme cold for 10 minutes (and I watch that clock soooo closely, ticking off the seconds) but it does help reduce swelling and minimizes pain. The cold, I think, reduces inflammation of the tissue (or injured tissue) so swelling goes down? Not sure... I THINK. :whatever:

I do know that baths, just a good soak in warm water, DOES help too. Anything to just relax those muscles! :)

I drink a little over 1 gallon H2O p/day now also, so that answers that question. Thanks!

T-cake, I will look into this for sure. And yeah, I stretch too. It has not helped much lately. Nor has increasing my fluid intake. I just think it is time to add something else to help out.

:cold: I dunno about jumping in the ol' ice tub! Nope, I just could not do it.
