Sugar in Isopure shakes

i just looked at the label today and noticed that it said 25 g carbs but only 1 g sugar. when i look at the ingredient list it lists maltodextrin as the 2nd ingredient so i'm assuming thats the 25 g carbs. why is it not listed as a sugar also. is there something i'm missing. i have been using these shakes post workout with a scoop of dextrose to get the sugar up to what i thought was 50 g....what gives?

malto is complex carbs......wouldnt be listed as sugar....sucralose is the sugary part.....

Sucralose is derived from sugar by changing the chemical structure, it DOESN'T have the molecules to be sugar.

Example: SPLENDA = sucralose

It doesn't affect blood glucose levels and it contains no calories.

so then is it ok to only add 25 g dextrose...that means i would have a 25g dex/25g malto combo...sounds like a good combo to me for post workout

which ISOpure are you using. I know the MRP isopures that come in single serving packets have a different carb count then does the ISOpure that comes in the big barrels, as well as the single serving drinks (0 carb, fruity drinks).

yeah its concetrated sugar basically......GI index lists most of it as high....some malto...depending on how it is produced is very low GI.....i know mine is 20 on the GI....it should list it on the label...or atleast its reference to glucose.

The FDA only classifies mono- and disaccharides as "sugar" for food labeling purposes. Examples: glucose, dextrose, fructose, lactose, sucrose, and maltose.

Maltodextrin is a carbohydrate composed of long chains of glucose molecules. Since it doesn't fit the above specification, it's considered a complex carbohydrate, even though the human body is very efficient at breaking those chains of molecules down and getting them into the bloodstream.

Maltodextrin has the same GI as glucose and dextrose.
