Strang question about ALA caps.....

I have a question about taking ALA post workout. Well, I like most people here drink a shake consisting of protien and carbs. Well, I want to start taking 800mgs of ALA along with my post workout shake. My question is, how do most of you take it? With the capsules? Or just mix the powder in with your shake? The reason I might not want to take it in the capsule form after I get done working out is becuase doesnt it take a long time for your body to break down those capsules?? Like to break them down and then digest the ALA? Wouldnt you already be out of your 1 hour or so window you need after you get done with your workout? Could you just break the capsules open and dump the stuff in your mouth right before or after you take your shake?
 
I think it doesn't take more than 15 minutes for those capsules to break down. The reason why I see that is I start getting heart burn after that.... So yeah probably about 15 minutes... It is also water and fat soluable. So it will be useful even if you pop the bills and chase them with your shake. 800mgs is plenty, but use that 800mgs 2-3 times a day. If my info is not sufficient to what you want to hear, yes you can break the caps into the shake but should expect an unpleasant taste. Actually I have heard of guys mixing it with a chocolate shake that said it tasted like peanut butter.... whatever works, but taking just the capsules will still work fine.

For me -- The ALA burns in my throut-unless I put down alot of water and some food this stuff burns...I wouldn't open the capsules....
 
So which is it? Caps or powder? I don't see how it would make a diff, The caps dissolve and u are left with powder anyway. If so where can I get some empty caps?
 
Powder isn't useless, but oxygen will denature the ALA more quickly. Caps are preferred, but not essential because of this.
