Steve Spurrier just resigned at UF

Yeah,

I wonder if their is any correlation between his resignation and the firing of Dennis Green..... Spurrier would love to get his grubby hands on Moss...

Good bye Fla. Hello Minn. !!!

That or he was caught stuffing footballs up a cheer leaders coochie!!

He supposedly wants an NFL job, and the Vikings have an explosive offense. It will be interesting to see if NFL players will put up with antics...

HOW CAN YOU GIVE UP ON THOSE YUMMY CHEERLEADERS? The only way I would go to the NFL is after my 60th b-day because I probably won't be able to get it up anymore so I wouldn't care about the Cheerleaders as much. :p Unless I was to coach for the Cowgirls or the Fish then I would leave early.

Good!! Now maybe we can get a better coach in there who won't lose the close games.

Lol, there won't be any close games to lose now. The SEC is now wide open.

don't forget

the Falcons job with Vic or the Chargers job with Brees and Tomilson

Florida still has a ton of talent. If one of their assistants can quickly earn the trust of the players, they can be a force very quickly. You need not look any further than what happened after Butch Davis left Miami...

Exactly there won't be any close games because Florida is still gonna blow everyone out in the SEC with or without Spurrier.

as lee corso would say:"not so fast my friend."

florida will find another good coach. who knows, green may look into it. don't go praising florida's future yet. you still got lsu, tennessee and even alabama(who's starting to improve again) nipping at their heals, not to mention georgia, auburn and ole miss. kentucky and vanderlbilt unfortunately don't have a lot going for them and arkansas is crazy(one minute they suck the next they do well, go figure). i think if spurrier wants it bad enough he'll go for the vikinings job. it'd be nice to see him coach the upcoming texans. back to florida, just like notre dame, there are gonna be some takers for that one, no doubt.

roll tide roll. (ok, flame me, i don't care, i bleed crimson and white, ya dig it?)

Will Grossman follow?

Maybe he wants that Panthers job. He knows he always wished Weinke was a Gator ;)

Maybe the Jaguars fire Coughlin? Spurrier is always rumored for that post.

Love him or hate him . . . I wouldn't be suprised if there was a major bid war between NFL teams for his services.

Steve Spurrier "to do" list:

1) Have agent contact the Vikings and let them know I'm interested

2) Get hired by the Vikes

3) Trade Moss and Carter for mega draft picks

4) Draft UF players to stock the Vikings

5) Just Win Baby

For some reason I see Spurrier more inclined to land a job in Tampa or Jacksonville. There has been a lot of talk of Dungy returning to the Vikings...

I think the Vikes will go for Dungy. Maybe Spurrier in Tampa....also the job in JAx perhaps - although that rumor is eternal.

he really won't be looking at much of a pay raise if he opts for the pros.

I can't believe they are already talking about Dungy when he is still guiding the Bucs, possibly into the playoffs. There is definitely no job security as an NFL coach.

It must really suck to be an assistant coach. As soon as you hear rumors about the head coach, you start worrying about your future, pulling the kids out of piano lessons, cutting back on expenses, etc.

He will most likely go to Tampa bay and become the head coach of the Bucs. They will give him a pay raise, and a 5% piece of the team.

He used to coach an arena team in Tampa way back when, he owned that city.

From what i hear, Tampa will try to get Parcells to come out and coach, which is highly unlikely. Then they will go ahead and bring in Spurrier.

Coughlin is staying put in J'ville. He has 2 years left on his contract and is happy where he is. If he was going to go somewhere he would have headed to Notre Dame as he is a Very religious catholic.

Also, look for Nick Saban to make a return to the NFL.

Minny will probably take a good look at Dungy, but owner Red McCombs also has strong ties to Texas coach Mack Brown, he might be on the short list.

If Seifert quits or gets fired, Denny Green might be a possible match, but im lookin for him to most likely sit out a year.

This might be the time for Red McCombs to make move his NFL franchise from Minneapolis to San Antonio.

Isn't it just a matter of time?

Saban just signed a contract exstention with LSU and a reported raise around 400 k per year extra. So I would say he's staying put.

Word here in the Carolinas is not only Seifert is on the way out but a major house cleaning is getting ready to take place in the front office as well.

i look for san diego to lose the chargers in the years to come. san antonio would be a cool place for team. i'd like to see a team come to b'ham alabama though it may never happen lest it be the xfl again. i hear seattle is moving to the nfc once the texans start their season, is there any truth to this?

When the team forgets to get off the bus...and doesnt execute...it doesnt matter WHO is the head coach...they are gonna lose. Believe me I am the biggest Gator fan around....and they deserved to lose those games...cuz that got big headed...and forgot to actually play the game.

As for the rumors. Here in Jax...sports radio said that Spurrier has "had communications" with both Wayne Weaver (Jags)...and the Tampa Bay front office. I cant imagine Spurrier retiring from the Gators without having some kinda NFL job lined up...an "inside track" so to speak. Besides he just finished constuction on his "Dream Home" here in Fla.....I doubt if he leaves the Sunshine State. My bet would be Tampa...if Dungy doesnt win out he is gone.

As for the vacancy left in Gainesville. The word is that the first person they have gone after is Bob Stoops....former defensive coordinator of the Gators. I doubt if they get him....but it would be a smooth transition if they did *crosses fingers*

The only thing that I am worried about now is what direction the offensive play calling will take...is this the end of the "Fun and Gun"....and if so will their recruiting classes suffer as a result.

Only time will tell. And since I do not play for them...all I can do is watch.

If anyone hires Spurrier as an NFL coach, they are insane. He will crash and burn. The games he plays with his players, namely his QBs, will not work with professionals. Those are two totally different worlds and he has never looked prepared to handle professionals.

Yes, they will be in the NFC West I believe. They were originally in that division when they came into the NFL in 1977. Tampa Bay was originally in the AFC central.

Well, good luck to any Florida fans out there. Looks like they're after Stoops. I pray he doesn't leave, but I can't say I would blame him.
