Steroids/Test. causes liver enlargement?

I recently had a doctor tell me that testosterone and steroids cause the liver to enlarge. I have never heard this before. Is this just a typical doctor ignorant about steroids spreading false information?

I'll tell you what I know, I've been on Testoserone for 15 years for medical reasons. Every 6 months or so my Dr. has me get a Liver function test to see if my liver is normal. I don't know if anything could make the liver bigger ,I've never heard of that. Maybe it cuts the liver down the liver to a certain percentage, thats not working properly. I was on D-bol last time I got a liver exam and the Dr. said my liver was funtioning 97.5% . I've been on HGH for the last 4 months so maybe that had something to do with it. Thats my .02 cents.

of course.

of course, think about it. you work muscles to make them bigger. fat people have oversized hearts because they have to work harder to pump blood around their fat bodies. if you take gear, your liver has to work harder, so in response (just like your muscles) it will enlarge. drugs that support liver function (like ALA, right?) should help the liver not work so hard, and therefore, should mitigate any liver enlargement to some extent, but its obvious that if you work the liver, it will grow, just like working your pecs, delts, etc.,

Maybe you are correct.

But I don't think that enlargement is necessarily an obvious result. The heart and skeletal muscles by nature are designed to shrink and grow in response to use, but i'm not sure whether this applies to organs. For instance, when I work my eyes harder they just become strained, they don't get bigger.

From what I have read testosterone in high doses is not hard on the liver in any case. So if it enlarges this organ it must do so by some other mechanism than over-work.

Well your organs are not muscles so I would say they don't grow like muscle does. You heart is an exception since its a muscle too.
I have heard that HGH can cause your internal organs to grow though.

WRONG.... The only reason the liver would enlarge is due to infection and disease. So if you contracted say hepatitis then it would enlarge due to inflammation (cirrhosis). Liver cells can grow and replace damaged ones but the liver will not generate liver tissue in response to anabolic steroids. No enlargement just replacement. Coincidentally sometime damaged tissue is replaced by fat rather than healthy tissue when damage is severe and ongoing. I.E prolonged alcohol use

I think that the doctor is trying to scare you so that you will quit doing the AS. I have had many doctors tell me so much bull shit about AS. Even had one doc tell me that my penis would shrink!
What a common misconception that is! I work for an insurance company so my medical smarts are limited, but I can tell you that the liver IS not a muscle. There for unlike the heart it will not enlarge due to the use of AS. ( as far as I know) Look at Arnold and other older pro-bb. They have heart problems, but no liver problems.( to my knoledge) The only thing you should watch are your liver enzymes. I would say consult a different doc. Also keep in mind that D-boll and most if not all other orrals are 17-aa.
